Quakertown is located in the northwest part of Bucks County, PA about 50 miles North of Philadelphia. The Borough of Quakertown is approximately 2 square miles in size and is filled with lots of charming houses and retail stores.Quakertown was originally known as the settlement of the "Great Swamp" by the Society of Friends. The Liberty Bell was once hidden in Quakertown for a short time while it was on its way to the Lehigh Valley. In 1803 it became officially Quakertown and its first post office opened in 1803. In 1820, there were approximately 12 buildings and by 1854 there were about 64. Today, of course, the town has grown immensely but has a nice mix of the past and present.
