Everything we do can be made special!           We can make any moment day special if we treat it as special.  If your days are average its only because you make them average.  The best way to elevate an experience is to give it your all.  That makes it special.  An average conversation becomes special when you listen with great interest.  A common relationship becomes uncommon when you give it uncommon effort.  An unremarkable event becomes special when you put creativity into it.  You can make anything more important by giving it your best.   Don HessKeller Williams Realty Lancaster1630 Manheim Pike Lancaster, PA 17601KELLER WILLIAMS IS NOW THE NUMBER ONE BROKER IN NORTH AMERICA!717 735-1145 office717 715-6288 cellhess39@comcast.net Check out new property listings at my web site: h...

Solcano Cross Country held an alumni 5k run / team picnic at the end of August. Over 100 people including parents, friends, former coaches and family attended.  Twenty six alumni participated in the run along and 35 junior varsity and varsity students participated in the school run afterwards. The event raised money for the "Art Harrington Cross Country and Track and Field Scholarship Fund." This fund awards two scholarships every year to two Solanco student athletes. As a Quarryville realtor and resident this sounds like a neat event and program.  Source: Quarryville Advertiser Don HessKeller Williams Realty Lancaster1630 Manheim Pike Lancaster, PA 17601KELLER WILLIAMS IS NOW THE NUMBER ONE BROKER IN NORTH AMERICA!717 735-1145 office717 715-6288 cellhess39@comcast.net  Check out new p...

This Quarryville Realtor is learning from his old friend John.   “Communication Mastery” Your level of communication mastery will determine your level of success with others…personally, emotionally, socially and financially.  More Important, the level of success you experience internally---happiness, joy, ecstasy, love or anything else you desire---is the direct result of how you communicate to yourself.  HOW YOU FEEL IS NOT THE RESULT OF WHAT IS HAPPENING IN YOUR LIFE---IT IS YOUR INTERPRETATION OF WHAT IS HAPPENING.  The quality of our lives is determined not by what happens to us, but rather by what we do about it.             It is important to know that you do not “catch” depression, you have to work at it by creating that attitude, walking around with stooped shoulders, looking do...

Good Morning from the Quarryville Realtor, More insight from my friend John:             SELF-IMAGE!              If you are not comfortable with yourself, then you can’t be comfortable with others.  If you do not believe in yourself, you will sabotage relationships. Your image of yourself restricts your ability to build healthy relationships.  A negative self-image will keep a person from being successful.  If a person with a poor self-image somehow achieves success, it won’t last because he / she will eventually bring himself / herself down to the level of their own expectations.             The most important relationship you will ever have is with yourself.  You’ve got to be your own best friend.  How can you be “best friends” with someone you don’t know or don’t like?  You can’t.  ...

If you look 5 or 10 years ahead in time are you doing today what will put you where you want to be at that time in your life?           We live in an age where fabulous success is at our finger tips but it requires more than knowledge, it requiresaction.  Will you do something today that will move you toward your destination?  Do you have an opportunity that you know you should take advantage of but you haven’t “pulled the trigger?”              Every time you see an opportunity but hesitate to reach out and do what is needed is one more chance that you won’t be where you dream of being in 5 to 10 years.  I know it’s “scary” but without some risk in life there won’t be much reward.  So today take a hard look at what opportunities are lurking around the corner, take a deep breath and tak...

The swim team will host a clinic for children up to age 18. It will be held beginning April at the Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA, 800 Village Road, Lancaster. Participants must be able to swim the length of the pool. The team's first practice will be held in June. Children may be registered on line now for the clinic or for the team at www.secasharks.org For more information, call Cathy Peifer at 717 786-4043. My kids are grown, but this Quarryville Realtor made certain that they could swim and swim well at a very young age. One is now a certified SCUBA diver. I highly recommend this clinic. Even though I've lived in Quarryville for near 41 years, I'm still amazed at the variety and frequency of events that are sponsored by the Quarryville Library. As example see the following: The Friends of the Quarryville Library will meet on Tuesday February 12th at 10 am. The Beader's Society (jewelry making) will meet on February 12th from 6 to 8 pm. The Book Discussion Group will meet on February 13th at 1:30 pm. The book to be discussed is “Killing Lincoln” by Bill O'Riley.   The library is located at 357 Buck Road, Quarryville Pennsylvania, 17566. For more information call 717 786-1336. All are welcome to attend these events! It's that time of year again! February 2nd is Groundhog Day! In Quarryville Pennsylvania that means that the members of the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge wait breathlessly for their chief prognosticator Octoraro Orphie to emerge from his underground den where he has been sleeping all winter and see his shadow OR NOT! If he sees his shadow and retreats to his hole we will have six more weeks of winter. If he doesn't see his shadow, well then spring is just around the corner. This all makes for a day long celebration at the Slumbering Groundhog Lodge on the banks of the Octoraro Creek. In addition to Orphie's annual appearance new members to the Lodge, called "Baby Ground Hogs" receive the rites of initiation. They get dunked in the creek! All this is accomplished in good fun. This Quarryvil...

I preface this with apologies because this Quarryville Realtor has been too busy to post blogs recently. However, this posting is one that I feel I need to do. Quarryville Lions President Joanne Black has chosen a new service project for her group. They've decided to rehabilitate the Veteran's Memorial at Legion Memorial Park off route 472 in Quarryville Pennsylvania. After receiving approval from the borough in October 2012, the club hired a company to do the work. The actual work is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2013. The cost of re-pointing and restoring the monument is estimated to be $6,000. American Legion Post 603 and VFW Post 3575 have contributed two thirds of the funds, but the club is accepting additional donations. The club would also like to expand the memorial. Curre...

As a resident of Quarryville for nearly 41 years, this is the second time since I've lived on West State Street that this Quarryville Realtor has witnessed the street being repaved. I must say that they've done a very nice job. However this is the first time that I've witnessed the street outside my house being repaved at night!   Now I must admit that it's very interesting watching the big equipment under kleg lights, but having that same big equipment rumble, rattle, bang and beep all through the night has been a little hard on my sleep schedule. Especially when those big rollers go back and forth over and over again literally shaking the house!   In addition trying to get in and out of my driveway when there was flagman controlled single lane traffic was sometimes an adventure. But I...
