Jamestown RI 02835- Conanicut Island- Jamestown RI Real Estate- Not an Island Adrift.  Southern RI has many spectacular waterfront communities such as North Kingstown, South Kingstown, Narragansett and Charlestown and one of my favorites for great RI real estate and its spectacular location is Jamestown RI.  Jamestown RI is 30 minutes from Providence RI and is on Conanicut Island in Narragansett Bay (west of Newport RI and east of North Kingstown RI).  There are approximately 5400 residents (2010 census stats) and a much broader summer community base of visitors.  Jamestown RI is the town and it does maintain its quaint seaside village flair.  Being on an island 9 miles long and 1 mile wide connected by two bridges, living here feels like a country unto itself. Based upon the latest Ja...

Jamestown RI - Jamestown Windmill - 1787 History.  Conanicut Island is the home of Jamestown RI....yes, it has the most wonderful state park affectionately known as Beavertail.  As a Rhode Islander it is a must stop with a friend or your honey to watch the pounding of the surf on the rocks, definitely watch an incredible sunset or just walk the rocks after driving around the Beavertail lighthouse which is still very functional.   As an island, Jamestown is located between the East Bay (Newport) of RI and the West Bay (North Kingstown) as we Rhode Islanders label our sides of the state.  Sounds a little bit like the North and the South during the Civil War but actually it is not at all a fighting spirit here....it is how we locate ourselves!Actually I wanted to share this beautiful str...

Beavertail State Park in Jamestown RI 02835 - It's all about the View here on the island of Jamestown RI in Narragansett Bay.  Known as Conanicut Island after the Indians that lived on the island.  Jamestown is connected to the mainland by both the Newport and Jamestown bridges and it wasn't that long ago (1969) that you had to take a ferry to get to Newport.  Yes, it's worth a road trip when you come to RI.  It's the majestic southerly point of this island which makes Beavertail so spectacular- the ocean crashing on the many rocks, the lighthouse beacon still sending its light out to vessels entering the Bay and the pristine landscape of this state park for all to come and enjoy it...free.  Video on Beavertail:   Whether it's the walking trails, the Beavertail rocks, historic lighthous...

It is always a Splendid Fireworks Buffet in the Sky July 3rd by the Rocket 'Hogs in Jamestown RI 02835 happening at dusk at Mackerel Cove Beach on your way to Beavertail in Jamestown RI 02835.  Don't be late, be early since the fire department stops all movement of traffic on Beavertail Road due to the area being an explosive zone for the fireworks display by 8:30 pm. A little known fireworks display put on for years in Jamestown RI that is absolutely outstanding in its splendific buffet of colors in the early evening sky this Saturday.  Just look at these loolapaloza cannons used for the fireworks! One of my favorite places to visit is Jamestown, RI., a beautiful Island in the Narragansett Bay. A great way to spend a day with the family, this magical place is approx 45 min from Fall River, MA. Just over the Newport Bridge        You actually start to feel the magic as you cross the Newport Bridge, the scenic views of the bay are absolutely breath taking! On this particular trip we visited Beavertail State Park and the Beavertail Lighthouse Museum and Aquarium.          The Beavertail Lighthouse is the third oldest lighthouse in the United States, the museum is open for visits during the season. Offering views of The Narragansett Bay.Our Family enjoyed a picnic in the park and then off to explore the beautiful coastline. Make sure you bring your rock climbing shoes!         Stay in...
