Saturday I wrote about how I was going to see So Long on Lonely Street at the Electric City Playhouse. But to really get an idea of how great our evening was Saturday I am going to tell you about the fine meal we enjoyed before seeing this fantastic show! I wish I had seen this show on opening night so I could have recommended it to you because it was great! My wife and I decided to eat at Sullivan's Metropolitan Grill in beautiful downtown Anderson. It was absolutely fantastic! I had bacon wrapped quail served and was pleasantly surprised by not just the quality but the quantity of the entree! I almost went with the Prime Rib which was one of the special but after tasting this excellent dish, I know I have found a new favorite! My wife had the Lobster Bisque and the Goat Cheese Fritter...

Anderson's City Council is considering taking what I would consider to be a positive step in attracting even more economic development to downtown Anderson according to this article.  The requirements of the proposed program are that a person or business must be willing to invest at least $300,000 in downtown Anderson to receive any benefit from the city. And considering this incentive, it could make it much more attractive for any person or business to purchase a great building for sale in downtown Anderson! One proposed incentive could give a person or business that invests $300,000 in downtown Anderson would be eligible for over $23,000 in the first year if they get a 100% grant from the city! The big kickoff of the Block party in downtown Anderson happened last night and over 900 people attended! The Block Party happens every Thursday night from 6 to 9PM until Oct. 28th. f you are looking for a cheap way to entertain yourself then I suggest checking out the Anderson City Fire Department Museum located at 400 S McDufie St in Anderson. Admission is FREE! I stopped by today to get some pictures for this blog entry and was amazed by the many different vehicles and fire fighting equipment from years ago. I really suggest that you take the time to stop by and check it out. The city of Anderson was incorporated in 1826 but did not have anything more than a bucket brigade until 1885 when the city purchased a used Steamer. It has been almost a month ago that I blogged about the possible closing of the post office in Anderson SC. But I am glad to report that the South Anderson branch post office has been removed from a list of branches being considered for closing by the United States Postal Service! I do not understand how or why this post office was selected, but now the point seems to be moot. The important thing is this very important decision will mean so much to the residents of the south side of Anderson. With my office just down the street from this post office on S Main Street in Anderson, it would have been an inconvenience for me.
