9. He got into TV because he hated TV. The first time he turned one on, he saw people angrily throwing pies in each other's faces. He immediately vowed to use the medium for better than that. How to Buy a New Construction House New construction is a very appealing option to many buyers in today's market.  It can be a little less expensive, especially in this market, to buy as apposed to a re-sale.  Why?  Because many builders can afford to reduce their prices and still make a profit whereas home owners who bought their home 3-5 years ago may not have the equity to drop their price as needed.  BUT......... ....there are several things you need to consider and questions you need to ask before you sign on the dotted line.  1.   Am I Comparing Apples to Apples - by this I mean, are you making a proper comparison with the re-sale and the new construction house.  Don't be fooled by the new construction ad that is equivalent in square footage and to the re-sale home but has a much ...

When I moved to Charleston, SC a few years ago, I could never figure out why all of the locals would call this a small town.  We've lived here for about 7 years now and I finally "get it".  Having lived in what really was a small town - Kingsland, GA - Charleston seemed like a huge, spread out city. You see, Kingsland was one of those towns that had hotels and gas stations.  It was where you stopped to fill up or spend the night on a road trip.  It was two exits into Georgia (or the last exit leaving) on hwy 95.  We were there because of the military base (my husband was subfleet at the time).  The whole county only had 40,000 people. After getting out of the miltary and taking a job transfer, we moved again to Charleston, SC.  With a population of nearly 350,000 people, you can see why...

Real Estate recovery has taken longer than we all thought it would take, but through the last several years our business has continuously push through the turmoil.   For true recovery to ever come in the real estate market, which it will come eventually, we all as real estate professionals must continue to network together and market our businesses twice as much as we did when the market was great several years ago.  Today's market affords great opportunities for all real estate professionals to drive the market through the roof when it does turn around.  As we all know, in today's market we can find real estate for half the price as we did several years ago.   So with this said, it is not all negative in today's market, there are significant amounts of revenues that can be generated th...

Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce's Economic Outlook Conference was held Wednesday and College of Charleston economist Frank Hefner offered some positive thoughts about our local economy that is worth repeating ... for our own understanding and as encouraging news.  Understanding that a stong real estate market is based on local economy, jobs, and consumer confidence, a few talking points:   *  All indicators are that the Charleston Metro area has hit bottom and that 2011 and 2012 should be growth years for our local economy.   *  In addition to continuing concerns about the national and global economy, there is uncertainty and caution about the impact of Japan's earthquake, tsunami, and nuclear power plant issues as well as the unrest in Egypt, Libya and other countries around the w...

SCHomeSellers.com Rent to Own and Lease Options on Homes For Sale! You’ve found the most beautiful house and it looks perfect for you. The bedrooms and baths are in the right number, the schools are fantastic, and neighborhood is as charming as you might imagine your first home to be in. The price is so right, too, that you can hardly believe it. Perhaps the ‘too good to be true’ price is a clue you don’t want to overlook. It could be hazardous to your health. There are hidden dangers in some houses that you could definitely miss when viewing the home. Asbestos is one of those potentially dangerous building material components that were commonly used prior to the last few decades. It was a wonderful solution to the fire proofing of commercial and residential homes, but it has since been...

SCHomeSellers.com Rent to Own and Lease Options on Homes For Sale in South Carolina! When you are looking for a new home the shape, size, and type of the house may be important, of course, but the neighborhood is where you will do your living. Unless you plan to move in and stay in, never venturing out to the market, sending the kids to school, or taking a walk, you'll need to know just what kind of area you are moving to. Narrowing your house search down to actual neighborhoods that are desirable to you is a very good idea. Why go through all the trouble to find a house when you realize that you hate the area it's in? If you pick out the areas that have the environment you would like in the town or city you will move to, it will make the search much more meaningful. If you are looking ...
