Sandhurst in Charleston - Yard of the Month - May 2011 Sandhurst in Charleston is the essence of an established neighborhood.  It's always fun to find the Yard of the Month, because, usually, most of the yards in Sandhurst qualify for Yard of the Month !! Sandhurst is the kind of community that people don't move away from.  They live here forever !  Many original homeowners still live in Sandhurst.  Most homes were built in the sixtes and have been very well maintained throughout the years.  I know all this because I have been a Sandhurst resident since 1982. Sandhurst is Located near I-26.  Convenient to airport, downtown, MUSC, Boeing...you can be anywhere in the area within minutes. haha.... How would that work in my advertising/marketing process?  NOT So what do I push? All the new stuff!!!!  Roofs, ventilation, heating, cooling, flooring, etc.  I LOVE selling older neighborhoods.  Everyone wants trees and history and solid good homes.   History was my favorite subject and if you follow it, history repeats itself.  I'm ready for home pricing to get sturdy and strong.  They will.  We will learn from housing market mistakes and THRIVE.  Guess what??? Realtors own properties too!  We want strong markets for many reasons.   So back to the subject... People don't mind the age of your home as long as you have kept it up to standards and/or above.  Don't be afraid to make it better!  Need help or advice?  Contact an EXCELLENT agent in your area.  Happy Buying!  Happy Sel...

If you haven't been to the Avondale section of West Ashley in Charleston, you don't know what you're missing. They say that when you write copy for a listing that the word "charming" can really mean "old" or "run down," but in referring to Avondale it really does mean all those good things we think of. It is located at the intersection of Magnolia Road and Savannah Highway - where the road forms an interesting triangle. I just sold a wonderful home in Avondale and my buyers settled on the area for all the reasons that so many families do... older homes with character, an established community that is made up of young and older families alike, and a bustling retail area comprised of restaurants and interesting one-of-a-kind shops. Avondale includes the solid public schools that Charlesto...

Sandhurst in Charleston, SC - Yard of the Month - April 2011 Look close, the "Yard of the Month" sign is discreetly tucked away in the landscaping.  This yard is amazing all year long, not just this month.  Every season, a new splash of flowers are planted.  This season, the Easter Lilys in the entrance planters add a special touch.      This home is not for sale, that I know of.  I can show you a similar property in Sandhurst.  Homes for sale in Sandhurst - Charleston, SC Sandhurst in Charleston, an established neighborhood, is a previous post the best describes Sandhurst. It's difficult to labor too long on the wonders of the weather and the beauty of the lowcountry and Charleston when so many in the southeast have been beset by life-threatening weather so recently. Tornadoes have hit the region together with thunderstorms and high winds. And President Obama has declared a state of emergency with severe damage having been done. Almost 180 lives have been lost by simply living in the path of destruction. And the flooding continues to destroy homes and property while almost 750,000 people are without power. It's been an eventful Spring and we'll all pray that these frightening weather systems are at an end.

How lucky are we to have a locally made video showing Charleston Rooftop views, water, and happy people! Oh, and one of those peeps - the one and only - Bill Murray.  One of his many homes happens to be right here in the Lowcountry.    Emily Hearn sounds great and this song just makes you smile.  I hope it becomes a huge hit! Take a few minutes and enjoy: Rooftop

How to Buy a New Construction House New construction is a very appealing option to many buyers in today's market.  It can be a little less expensive, especially in this market, to buy as apposed to a re-sale.  Why?  Because many builders can afford to reduce their prices and still make a profit whereas home owners who bought their home 3-5 years ago may not have the equity to drop their price as needed.  BUT......... ....there are several things you need to consider and questions you need to ask before you sign on the dotted line.  1.   Am I Comparing Apples to Apples - by this I mean, are you making a proper comparison with the re-sale and the new construction house.  Don't be fooled by the new construction ad that is equivalent in square footage and to the re-sale home but has a much ...

When I moved to Charleston, SC a few years ago, I could never figure out why all of the locals would call this a small town.  We've lived here for about 7 years now and I finally "get it".  Having lived in what really was a small town - Kingsland, GA - Charleston seemed like a huge, spread out city. You see, Kingsland was one of those towns that had hotels and gas stations.  It was where you stopped to fill up or spend the night on a road trip.  It was two exits into Georgia (or the last exit leaving) on hwy 95.  We were there because of the military base (my husband was subfleet at the time).  The whole county only had 40,000 people. After getting out of the miltary and taking a job transfer, we moved again to Charleston, SC.  With a population of nearly 350,000 people, you can see why...
