When the Marathon Oil Company, previously Hilton Head Company, constructed Wexford Plantation in 1982, it intended to create the most exquisite residential community on the East Coast.  It was designed for residents only and no villas or condominiums with the exception of townhomes. The community offers owners a welcoming clubhouse with swimming pool, tennis courts, on a picturesque setting at the community Mariana.
