Treasure at the Heritage Library on Hilton Head Island Beyond the beckoning beaches, the paths through nature trails, and kayak adventures, another more long-lasting treasure awaits both locals and visitors alike at the Heritage Library on Hilton Head Island. An affiliated library with the Church of the Latter Day Saints, this is a great rainy day place to be. Just like any research library the Heritage Library has tons of information about local historical sites, and gives you terrific information for anything from school projects - yes that vacation can actually produce fun AND learning - to just fascinating knowledge about the beginnings of the lowcountry before the bridge to the island and the gated communities. It's fun to use the incredible array of books, microfiche, videos, and...

New Year New You New Community New Home Oh boy, if I had even a 1/2 penny for every New Year's resolution that came and went but made with the best of intentions! Between reading all of the diet tips and hints, trying to pass up dessert, trying to exercise more, be more kind to family members, etc. everybody hates regrets but no one seems to know how to avoid them - as I work with buyers and sellers alike I've come up with SIX WAYS TO SUCCEED WITH REAL ESTATE RESOLUTIONS: 1. Be reasonable; in my coastal vacation and generally second home area, people come and stay for a week and then think that they will be able to make a snap decision the day before they leave. Give yourself some time, those of us that live here want to help, we don't expect you to make the snap decision. What we do ...

What Type of Buyer are you - a Caterpillar or Butterfly Pardon the analogy but I've been engrossed all summer with my newest hobby - providing nectar plants in order to attract butterflies - well, technically to attract the caterpillars which will in turn produce the butterflies. Because I've been highly attentive watching this life cycle and because my real profession is not that of an entomologist but instead a Realtor(R) I naturally applied my research to buyers. Phase One - Flower Selection Process The first contact I have with you is generally from my website - you're now the butterfly that quickly lands on all kinds of different flowers. The butterfly goes from flower to flower trying to find just the right place to either sip nectar or to lay eggs. This process truthfully is not ...

Bicyclists Welcome on Hilton Head Island The Town of Hilton Head has made a concerted effort to be bicycle friendly. This summer I really noticed our visitors taking them up on it. I just want to say hooray but also to reach out to give some rules of the road for our bicyclists! RULES OF THE ROAD Yep - there are indeed rules by statute to be sure that everybody is on the same page and to protect our bicyclists. Here is some information directly from the Palmetto Cycling Coalition: SECTION 56-5-3410. This section reviews how these laws apply to bicyclists. The provisions of this article are applicable to bicycles whenever a bicycle is operated upon any highway or upon any path set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles, subject to those exceptions stated in this article. SECTION 56-5-34...

FLOOD INSURANCE UPDATE and Hilton Head Island Homeowners July 2014 Want to search for homes on higher ground? (and obviously this comes with the disclaimer that you must investigate through Beaufort County or request an elevation certificate - though I do many things, being a Surveyor is not one of them) WHAT IS THE NEWEST UPDATE? I hate to say it, but this is meant to be a summary and an encouragement to check with your insurance agent if you're a current Hilton Head homeowner, and if you're thinking of buying, check with a local insurance agent to confirm the effects of the legislation. And, as with all insurance quotes, please be sure that you understand that all the numbers below are estimates, and this is for informational purposes only - and of course this is as of the date of thi...

FAQ What to do if it RAINS ON HILTON HEAD DURING THE HERITAGE? People are running around the island with mopy faces, the traffic is snarled because today, and apparently this whole weekend, it's supposed to rain on Hilton Head Island, SC which just happens to be THE SOCIAL WEEKEND of the year at the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament. OK, so it's raining. It's not a COLD rain, it's a fairly steady rain and it's 62 degrees - not our normal low 70's weather and everyone wants to know what to do. You've come to our island with visions of bright green golf courses, bright white sand traps, and breathtaking views over to Daufuskie Island. There is indeed life on Hilton Head even with the rain. Hilton Head, SC Homes for Sale under $200,000 April 2014 Search more homes on Hilton Head This price point is very popular but selection is nearly non-existent on Hilton Head Island. At this moment - not including attached homes or townhomes, there are FOUR. 16 Mystic Drive, Old Woodlands 46 Chinaberry Drive, Chinaberry Ridge 36 Shamrock Circle, Wild Horse Court 14 Great Barracuda, Beach City Road The locations range from the south end of the island to the north end and the great news is that because they are not within gated communities, the fees are very low or non-existent. These communities are also terrific for people who really enjoy more freedom to perhaps have fencing, or sheds for tools, boats, and RV storage, or motorcycles without restrictions as to height, size, or location....

SEA PINES RESORT NEW PLANTATION GOLF CLUBHOUSE Hilton Head Island Homes for sale in Sea Pines Resort. The big reveal was finally accomplished about two weeks ago! The new Plantation Golf Club at The Sea Pines Resort on Hilton Head is a major success. The architect used the original Savannah grey brick which had been on the exterior of the former Plantation Club but is now on a pretty interior wall as well as the foyer fireplace. This brick, from the 1850's is just another good example of how perfectly the new club brings the history back to the present. The design services of Kent Interior Design, Inc. from Atlanta were enlisted for this creation. The goal was to balance high end finishes such as cast stone pillars, stunning mahogany doors, cooper accents along with a cedar roof and sid...
