St. Patricks Day Celebrations 2014 on Hilton Head Island What: Hilton Head Island St. Patrick's Day Parade When:  Sunday, March 16th, 3PM Where: Pope Avenue north to Office Park Road Contact: hiltonheadireland.org    The countdown is on and since this year has cooperated and the parade will actually take place on THE DAY, it should be an even bigger celebration. This is the 31st year for the parade and there are usually 25,000 people who attend this favorite island event. (Yep, that's me with my 'friends' - most especially the beloved Yostie, supreme puppeteer whom we lost a year ago) WHERE DOES IT GO? The parade route starts out at the south end of the island with staging in the public parking lot. Stepping off on Pope Avenue and continuing north to office park in front of the viewing ...

Hilton Head Island MARKET MARCH UPDATE SWEET SPOT INFORMATION It's not quite the end of the quarter but it is interesting to take a look at what is listed, what is pending, and what has sold in the last six months on Hilton Head Island. Just by way of clarification: The entire island was included in this comparison; whether a community is gated or not, any home that is listed at the moment, pended or sold, as long as it was on Hilton Head Island, it is on the chart. Also, the statistics are inclusive in that if something has been listed for 2 years - it is currently active and is included. If something was a short sale and now is pending, it is included; by the same token, if it has been pending for a year, it is counted. The sales were specifically delineated over the last SIX MONTHS, ...

Bicycling Job Potential on Hilton Head Spring Summer 2014 People often ask me what they can do when they move here permanently. This is a lively island and it's fun to share all that you can see and do. Bicycling has really increased in popularity and the Town of Hilton Head Island is really recognizing that. If you love the island, and love to bicycle, this new job opportunity may be right up your alley. (This information just appeared in our local newspaper, The Island Packet.) FEBRUARY 2014 MARKET UPDATE Harbourtown in Sea Pines, HHI February is almost a distant memory and it's time to take a look at how the market is progressing. To define the area, Harbourtown (yes, we spell it here with a "U" in the Harbourtown), is the area by the famous candy-striped lighthouse that was never a lighthouse but created as a beautiful symbol of the island by Charles Fraser. For the purpose of this market study, and starting at the lighthouse location I'll focus on Schooner Court, Stoney Creek, Mariners Way (above the shops at Harbourtown), Harbour South Villas, Cutter, Harbourtown Club Villas, Lighthouse I and II, Clipper, Caravel, and Ketch Court, Lighthouse Tennis, Sea Loft (over on Deer Island). By way of explanation, these closed prices are grouped only by date sold. Th...

Looking good in a swimsuit on Hilton Head Island, SC It's definitely that time of year when the stores have done their major transitioning from fall and winter clothing to those skimpy, tight-fitting dresses, and yes the dreaded swimsuits. There are tummy tucking fabric ones, swim skirts, longer tops, etc. but the bottom line is that unless you've been working out all winter and didn't indulge in the holiday treats, this season and the swim suits can be intimidating. If you're looking for a way to improve your whole way of life - AND to get into that swimsuit, check out the programs offered by Hilton Head Health. This wonderful place is hidden among the pretty moss-draped oaks in Shipyard Plantation and Resort. They win awards every year from not just the local magazines but also from T...

FAQ Where can I go bicycle riding on Hilton Head Island, SC Our little 15 mile long island is becoming more and more bicycle friendly every year. Just last fall the Town began leveling and then paving trails right along William Hilton Parkway so you wouldn't have to ride on the tiny tiny 'path' that ran alongside the road. There are paved sidewalks on the south side of the road but now there are prettier 'paths' that wind through some wooded areas on the north side as well. Starting up by Jarvis Creek Park, you can travel past some shopping areas and go all the way down almost to the Sea Pines Circle. Along the way, you can shop, eat, stop and see the wildlife as you go over the pretty bridges. One of the most favorite places to go is within Sea Pines Resort. Unfortunately, these trails...

Where are the best Furniture Consignment Stores on Hilton Head Instead of just going to the big box furniture stores; and there are several in the area, why not give a thought to shopping at several of the local consignment stores. You'll be very surprised at the condition and selection. Bargains and Treasures With two locations; one in Hilton Head and one in Bluffton, this business has been in existence for 30 years. There's plenty to choose from here and there are some terrific opportunities. Don't think hand-me-downs, or worn out furnitures, you can find very gently worn sofas, chairs, and dining room sets, as well as stunning gilt mirrors, large statuary, and all kinds of accessories. My client, who does many interiors picked up a down filled pillow designer sofa still in shrink wra...

Neither Ice,Snow or Rain will Keep me from finding you a home today! Just wanted you to know that I'm open for business on Hilton Head and Bluffton today (tomorrow however, apparently is another story). Winter Storm Pax has apparently passed us for today and left the destruction of ice all around us. I even was out on tour this morning previewing homes in Palmetto Dunes and Port Royal Plantation. Here's my report on what I saw: Palmetto Dunes 21 Rum Row - no, not the 'ho ho ho and a bottle of' though many of the streets in Palmetto Dunes are indeed nautically named; this 3 bedroom 2-1/2 bath home is built in 1999, is updated and has a really fun black-bottomed pool with views through the landscaping of the Robert Trent Jones Golf course. The floor plan is fairly open, though more in a t...

Hilton Head Island, Villas for Sale Zip Code 29928 on 2/10/14   TERM DEFINITION Perhaps before even providing the statistics, a note about the word 'villa' should be mentioned. Around here, we don't generally use the term 'condo', and use the term townhome to delinate only the style and not the type of ownership. The other note that bears explaining is the term 'regime'. This refers to the monthly management fees that are billed by a company that actually manages each villa complex - and in some cases, there are two 'regimes' within one particular villa community. The fees sometimes include insurance (wind & hail and flood) and sometimes there is an additional assessment that covers either the entire insurance cost or an assessment that is added in case there is an increase in the cost ...
