  The maxim that we always take for granted what we have is appropriate here.  Too often as locals we never take the time to benefit and enjoy the tourist sites that attract thousands each year to our historic city.  When the City of Isle of Palms was informed that it had been certified for the 2007-2008 Blue Wave Season and as such will again be flying the Blue Wave Flag, I was absolutely delighted.  For the sixth year running, this certification has been awarded to the City of Isle of Palms, a testament to the dedication of its residents, public officials and island business owners for the welfare of its pristine beaches.  For those of you living in the Charleston area, take heart.  When I asked around, not one person knew what this meant.  The “Blue Wave Beach” certification is give...

The Isle of Palms, excluding Wild Dunes, has seen a major downturn during the first quarter of 2007 compared to same period 2006. $1M+ homes sold fell from 31 in 2006 to 11 during the same period this year. The $200K-$499K condo/timeshare market also fell drastically from 14 sales last year to just 4 this period.
