Do you ever look at the numbers for performance in the MLS and get depressed.  We are not up to the 10th yet the mls is showing 15,000,000 in sales. 58 agents have had a pay day so far. 1 agent over $1,000,000 and 5 have had sales over $500,000.I look at the numbers and wonder where I went wrong?  I do all the calls and cards and parties to be seen, but I do not have a sale on the books yet. Why did I not plan better?I need to pick myself up, stop looking at others and look to my data base and see what I can mine out....or I could just go play in the snow and start over tomorrow. Snow in our area of SC is seldom--2 or 3 times a winter.  2-4 inches average.  Here today, gone tomorrow. We have a silly scale for snow...3 flakes all goverment offices close, 10 flakes the stores will be out ...

This colorful photo is of me enjoying the fall splendor in October of 2013 in Oconee County, South Carolina. The 2016 Oktoberfest in the little German city of Walhalla will take place October 21-23 this year. The Chamber of Commerce has a website dedicated to the the event so that vendors can get information about costs and locations of space rentals. The website also gives a list of accomodations for visitors to the area that weekend. If you want to know the schedule and locations of the activities, carnival rides, dancers, bands, crafts, etc. visit one of these sites: http://walhallaoktoberfest.webs.com/https://walhallaoktoberfest.com/photos http://www.walhallachamber.com/event-868255http://www.funtober.com/oktoberfest/southcarolina/http://www.upcountrysc.com/events/Walhalla-Oktoberfest...

Walhalla South Carolina is located in Oconee County at the the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I love the feel of this little town where the crime is low and community is important. And, most importantly, the chicken at The Steak House Cafeteria is legendary.  It is an old fashioned cafeteria where you go through a line and choose what you want, and the ladies behind the counter serve it on a plate and hand it over to you. You are charged by the item, so you can get as much or as little as you please. The two things you should know about The Steak House Cafeteria are: 1) they do not serve steak and 20 they have the best fried chicken in the galaxy! I know…The STEAK House that doesn’t serve steak, right? Well, it hasn’t always been that way. When they first opened back in 1973, T-Bone ...

Halloween in Walhalla SC was just a simple holiday till Henry Brown moved to town.  He bought the house across from the Westview Cemetery.  Halloween was his favorite holiday and he knew owning a house by a cemetery would make the holiday more fun.   In 2006 he started making plans on how to make Halloween his holiday in Walhalla.  He invited his porch society friends to come over and help out.  Sam and Kay lived in a remote part of the county, he knew they would not have many ghost and goblins coming to visit.  Julie and Rick had a steep driveway that no one wanted to drive on a good day, must less try to get up and down in the dark of Halloween night. Verla and Bill lived in a gated community with no kids so they were invited.  And last but not least Alan Jackson was invited to finish...

Halloween in Walhalla SC might have been just another holiday, till Henry Brown moved to town.  Halloween is Henry's favorite holiday.  He choose to live in the house across the street from the cemetery.  You know the one with the big oak tree and a deep patch of woods along one side.   This is the city cemetery (Westview) and since it is in Walhalla the residents date back to the 1850's. They were the city founding fathers...teachers and ministers and doctors and nurses...the grave stones give some history if you just look.  Lest's not stray from the story we must get back to Henry, when he moved in to the house across from the cemetery all he could think of was how wonderful Halloween was going to be.  2006 was the first year for Halloween on Pine Street with Henry Brown.  He made pla...

Are you one of those people that appreciates the beauty of nature? Do you enjoy looking out your window and seeing the mountains? Does the thought of cool mountain breezes sound good to you? Then maybe you may want to look at homes for sale in Walhalla South Carolina. Nestled in Oconee County in Upstate South Carolina, Walhalla is a wonderful area that has homes for every budget. However, there is a problem with looking for homes online. Most people don't want to be hounded by an agent after registering on some website. We understand that and don't blame people for feeling this way. I realize that you may be in the information gathering stage, and may not be ready to “open up” about who you are, or what your needs are at this time. This is perfectly okay and understandable. Everyone at ...

There is a little town about twenty minutes away called Walhalla – population 3503. This little town was founded in 1850 and has remained small and quaint since that time. There are several antique shops in Walhalla, where you can find genuine articles of interest that really are antique. There is a barbershop and an art gallery and a self-serve furniture store…that’s right, self serve…you help yourself. Bet you didn’t think places like that existed outside Mayberry, huh? But the one thing that keeps us going back to Walhalla over and over again is the The Steak House Cafeteria. It is an old fashioned cafeteria where you go through a line and choose what you want, and the ladies behind the counter serve it on a plate and hand it over to you. You are charged by the item, so you can get a...

Walhalla could very well live up to its name it was given by the German immigrants that started this great town. I always think of how interchangeable the words Valhalla and Walhalla can be since Valhalla means "Garden of the Gods" and Walhalla is a slice of heaven on earth in Upstate South Carolina! Walhalla is in Oconee County in Upstate South Carolina. It is the county seat of Oconee county. It is located 16 miles from Clemson University. The population was 3,801 at the 2000 census and actually decreased to 3,647 in 2007. Walhalla covers 3.71 square miles but refers to a larger area than just within the city limits. While much of the original German influence is gone, the town hosts the annual Oktoberfest which I highly recommend for the entire family believe it or not. And it will b...

Walhalla’s points of interests include the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. I recommend seeing Issaqueena Falls/Stumphouse Tunnel. The downtown area has a variety of shops offering antiques, pottery, jewelry, baskets and clothing. Walhalla is a grea...

Our area just came out of a 7 year drought, by the 1st of September 2009 our rainfall was back to normal.  The 3rd weekend in September we had a 3" rain in less than 10 hours, rivers and creeks flooded.  Low land became ponds and lakes.  Houses that were not in flood zones now had 2-3 feet of water around them. About a week later I got a new listing...one that flooded.  We listed it at the price they paid for the property and published that we would consider any offer.  The property is just over 4 acres with a bold, sometimes creek, sometimes river along one boundary. The house is slab construction, built to enjoy the creek.  There is higher ground on this property. After we got the listing we decided to do some investigation..was this the first time it had flooded? Were there any discl...

As always, I suggest getting out and getting involved. If you do not tell our elected officials how you feel, then you cannot complain when they make some bonehead decision! Anyway, the School Board for Oconee is having a public meeting about the possible locations of the new Walhalla High School. So on November 10, 2009 at 6:00 pm, the School Board for Oconee County will be  meeting at Walhalla High School to receive public input for possible locations of the new Walhalla High School. The Office of School Operational Services announced today the sites under consideration. ·  The west side of Hwy 11 near Pickett Post Road - This site is approximately 100 acres and will have road frontage on Hwy 11 and a right of way to Pickett Post Road. ·  The east side of Hwy 11 across from Winstead R...

The festivites kick off at 3pm with the Time Warp Trick or treat which runs until the all ages costume contest at 430pm. From 5 to 530pm they will be showing the family film "Its the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" which everyone knows is a Halloween classic. But at 6pm they start the Frankenstein Film Fest & Pizza, and parental guidance is suggested since they will be showing "Frankenstein" from 1910 and "Young Frankenstein" from 1931. No since in scaring the younger ones after an afternoon of fun! But I hope you will make p...

The 31st Annual Oktoberfest in Walhalla SC October 16,17, 18th 2009 It has been almost 2 years since i had the extreme pleasure of attending Oktoberfest in Walhalla. It is a great event for the entire family. Don't think it is just Brats and Beer! Each year since 1979, Walhalla has been hosting this event. It takes place at the Sertoma Field on Highway 183. There will be crafts, carnival rides for the young and the young at heart and of course, my favorite: FOOD! There will be wurst and kraut, strudel along with authentic German music and dancers. The last time I went one of the craft vendors was selling some great preserves and I bought a jar of Jalapeno Jelly. Sounds strange I know but try it on Townhouse crackers with cream cheese and you will be amazed. The event kicks off Friday wit...
