Subscribe to ChattanoogaAndBeyond.com piatti gustosi, ottimo cibo...great food! Boccaccia Ristorante Italiano - ChattanoogaAndBeyond.com Plans for our anniversary today included dinner at a restaurant that is new to us. We were excited to try something new but as we headed downtown we were drawn back to one of our favorites, Boccaccia Ristorante. Located in the Southern Saddlery Building at 3077 Broad Street between Southside and St. Elmo in Chattanooga, Boccaccia is nestled in a restored brick building that provides a warm, relaxed atmosphere. Look for the wooden fencing just past the building because there is not much signage. Outdoor dining at Boccaccia - ChattanoogaAndBeyond.com The deck outside looks inviting but tough to imagine getting over the traffic noise on Broad Street. Rela...

ChattanoogaAndBeyond What a wonderful legacy to the heartbeat of Chattanooga Walnut Street Bridge from the Hunter - ChattanoogaAndBeyond.com This pedestrian jewel, The Walnut Street Bridge is the oldest and largest surviving truss bridge in the South and was the first such multi-use structure built across the Tennessee River. I could smell the new decking The Bridge was condemned and destined for demolition when the citizens of Chattanooga convinced the city  to commit the funds earmarked for the bridge’s demolition to its restoration. The restoration was dependent on raising the balance of funds needed. How fortunate we are now enjoying the vision of Chattanoogans! When I was a little girl we lived in Cleveland, about 30 minutes northeast of Chattanooga. I spent a lot of time with my grandfather (Papaw) and he took me to Chickamauga Battlefield pretty regularly. There are more than a few pictures of me sitting on one of the dozens of cannons sprinkled through the park. One of the things that we always did on our way home was stop at Bea's Restaurant. My Papaw loved going to Bea's and we always made some new friends while we were there. At Bea's, the tables hold six or eight people and if you've only got two or three with you, well, then you're going to be sitting with some people you don't know. To say that Bea's is a family style restaurant is an understatement. Fried chicken, cornbread, new potatoes, barbeque, greens, mac & cheese, peach cobbler...

Ferger place was the first gated community south of the Mason Dixson line. But it wasn't gated to keep intruders out, unless you consider wandering livestock to be 'intruders.' In 1910, Highland Park & Ferger Place were the 'burbs, farmland even, and the Ferger brothers weren't going to stand for any cows on Morningside or Eveningside Drives. There are no worries about cattle roaming the neighborhood anymore and the gates have long since been taken down but the pillars remain, along with the private park for the benefit of the residents. Help the residents of Ferger Place (along with a few descendants of those brothers Ferger) celebrate the historic neighborhood's 100th Anniversary tomorrow from 10am-5pm. Lots of activities and entertainment along with a few street vendors to keep the c...

Gather 'round the council fire and I'll tell you a story. Actually, I'll just cut to the chase: It ain't easy to sell a high end home in Chattanooga these days. As of right now there are 517 homes for sale in Hamilton County priced over $400,000 while only 55 houses in that range have sold since the first of the year. At that rate it'll take about more than three years to sell everything that's on the market. Ouch. And it gets even worse as the price goes up. Twenty-nine of those 55 (over half) were in the $400-500k range. But Jules, you're usually so positive! Didn't you just post a report a couple of days ago showing how much the Chattanooga real estate market has rebounded? Why are you telling me this now and killing my buzz? If you're looking for a top end home, or even just thinkin...
