How Much Will I Pay For a Franklin TN Condo/Townhome? February 2015  As we move into the second month of 2015, buyers are considering whether this is a good time to purchase a Franklin TN condo or townhome. The question is best answered by looking at the current market--is it a buyer's market or a seller's market, are prices are going up or down, and how long are homes staying on the market? To understand these factors you need to look at a current market report. Let's take a look at what happened in Franklin TN in January 2015. Active condo/townhomes listings: 68 Of those units currently on the market, the number under contract: 16 Properties closed in January: 21 Average sales price: $278,531 Average list price: $277,809 Average sales price to list price ratio: 100.2% Average days on ...

Fortunately, The People's Church comes along side married couples to help and encourage them in their marital walk.  One of the things they are so good at doing is offering some fun and entertaining events that help couples grow closer. The year is no exception. On February 15, that's right, Valentine's Day weekend, they are hosting an event called Fight Night. Hmm, that doesn't sound like an event that would help married couples.  Join us on February 15 from 5 - 7:30 p.m. at The People's Church located at 828 Murfreesboro Road in Franklin and see how conflict can improve your love life. The cost is $33/couple. Drs. Les and Leslie Parrot will be our hosts. Get ready to rumble! Mark ...

As you drive down Main Street in Franklin TN, you can't miss the glowing marquee of the Franklin Theatre. To look at the old cinema house now, you would think that it has been there for a long time. You would be right. The Franklin Theatre was built in 1937. The world changed a lot over the years and the movie house suffered decay and neglect. It wasn't able to compete with the mega-theaters in the area and shut its doors in 2007 after 70 years of operation. I had only lived here a short while when the theater closed. You could feel a real sense of loss by the community. Fortunately, the Heritage Foundation of Franklin and Williamson County, a non-profit group, stepped up and purchased the theater. The renovation took three years and over $8M to complete. Franklin Theatre, the jewel of ...

It's no secret that I love to go to the movies. However, with movie rates and concessions continuing to rise, it's hard to justify the expense. Especially, when the movie will be available through Netflix within a few months.  Fortunately, Carmike Cinemas recognized that Tuesdays were their slowest attendance day of the week. In an effort to increase patrons and justify their operating expenses, they implemented Stimulus Tuesdays. A small popcorn, small soft drink and candy can be purchased for $2 each. If you like the larger sizes, you'll get $5 off a combo. For further savings attend the super Bargain Matinee between 4 - 5:30 p.m. and admission is only $5.75 per person. Tom and I attended American Sniper last week.  The 4:20 p.m. showing on Tuesday was sold out. Apparently, Stimulus T...

One of the things I absolutely love about living in Franklin TN is its rich history.  Franklin was founded in 1799 and very few people actually know that one of the worst battles in the Civil War was fought here.  As a result, you will find several historic exhibits here.  Carnton Plantation is Franklin's most famous historic place. Carnton Plantation was built in 1815 by former Nashville mayor Randal McGavock.  At the time, Carnton became one of the premier farms in Williamson County, Tennessee. John McGavock inherited the farm upon his father's death. John married Carrie Elizabeth Winder in 1848 and they had five children, three of whom died at an early age. The surviving children were son, Winder, and daughter, Hattie. On November 30, 1864, during the Battle of Franklin, Carnton Plan...
