This is a very family-friendly neighborhood taking great pride in the outward appearance, and one of the more sought after neighborhoods in west Knoxville. Kensington, Knoxville TN is situated along Northshore Road heading west from Rocky Hill. There are two entrances to this upper scale neighborhood. It is also one of the more stable neighborhoods in terms of property turnovers -- the average property turnover rate is over 8.40 years. Today, I'd like to visit Sequoyah Hills, Knoxville TN.  This is one of the older and more stately areas, that is soaked in history. It is situated on a peninsula created by the Tennessee River between downtown Knoxville and West Knoxville, and is named for Cherokee Indian Sequoyah who developed the Cherokee alphabet. Sequoyah Hills is bordered on the east, west and south by the Tennessee River and Kingston Pike on the north. Sequoyah Hills was originally developed in the 1920's as an area for the rich to escape city life. Homes sit atop 40-foot bluffs giving residents sweeping views of the Tennessee River. There are a number of historical homes here, and one of the most notable homes currently on the market is a replica of the Washington Rotunda, built in 1928. For December 2011, there ...

Let's visit a lovely subdivision in the Hardin Valley area, Campbell Creek Knoxville TN. Situated off Campbell Station Road, just 2 miles from I-40, Campell Creek offers a "home town feel" on the outside, with modern features inside. The idea was to build a community within a community. A large tract of land was purchased the other day near Cedar Bluff Road. The Nebraska company plans on developing a 128-unit independent living community for seniors.   Matt Maude, Cameron's chief financial officer, said the $24 million project will include a three-story residential facility plus three smaller buildings with garage units. Maude said the company will not directly provide health care, but that home health-care agencies will be available to provide services. He said the facility will include meal service, a 150-seat theater, a workout room and weekly housekeeping.   While there are places for seniors living independently in Knoxville, it can be hard "getting in". Quite frankly there are many reasons Tennessee, and Knoxville in particular, is a great place to retire, starti...

There are many reasons people choose a smaller home. The kids have all moved out and have homes of their own, you've retired and want a smaller home to take care of, or first time home buyers are watching their costs. A smaller home is simply less costly. So, what are some of the ways a smaller home is less costly? Energy costs come to mind. Who can argue that a 2000 square foot home will cost less to heat or cool than a 5000 square foot house? But, more importantly, you save on the purchase price, as well as your property taxes, and lets throw into the mix home insurance which will also lower. I was reading an article in Realty Times today that states there is a trend towards people buying smaller homes. According to this article, the standard home is a 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath house with a...

Last month during the Parade of Homes, I brought you to Harrison Springs subdivision. Wow! But things are hopping over there, selling like hotcakes hopping!   Seriously, though, Harrison Springs is a highly desirable subdivision starting with location, location, location! That is followed up by family friendly, and more location, location, location: convenient to work, play, shopping, schools, and most anything you can think of to do.   For October*, there were:   6 Active properties 5 Pending properties 3 Closed sales   Let's see this on a nice colorful pie chart:   Woohoo! There's almost as many Pending sales as there are Active properties for sale, and those 3 closed properties are just great. It makes that chart look like a peace sign.   The Average listing price is $277,166   The A...
