  Addison outdid itself last night with its KaBoom Town Independence Day celebration! Prior to last night, KaBoom Town was noted as one of the top three celebrations in the country. In my opinion, it is now Number One!   The event was patriotic from beginning to end. The evening began with a two act Addison Airport Air Show that concluded with a spectacular red, white, and blue pyrotechnics display attached to two aircraft.   I loved that the estimated half million people in attendance recited the Pledge of Allegiance in unison and sang the Star Spangled Banner, to music provided by the Dallas Wind Symphony.   The 30 minute fireworks display, choreographed to patriotic, music was stupendous, as always. The culmination of WaterTower Theatre's two week Summer Performing Arts Conservatory is a kid-size production of Willy Wonka. Two bus loads of Addison, Texas Pacesetters (50+ years of age) spent a delightful evening at the Dallas Arboretum on May 29, 2012. We were there to see the Chihuly exhibit and hear Dan Whyms perform a tribute to Johnny Cash. The Dallas Arboretum is located at 8525 Garland Road in Dallas and the exhibit runs through November 5th. Individual tickets are $10 (seniors) and $12 (members) to $22 (non-members) and parking is free. On Tuesday and Thursday evenings, there are concerts on the hill inside the Arboretum. In my opinion, this is the best time to go. The gates open at 6:00 pm and the concert starts at 7:30 (7:00 in the fall). This month, Dannette Robinson spoke to us. She is the assistant to the City Manager, Ron Whitehead. Here are some interesting tidbits from Dannette's presentation: Although she has been on the job only 5 weeks, she was an intern at Town Hall for 1 1/2 years while working on her Masters of Public Administration at UNT.
