With the recent decision by the Supreme Court to strike down Biden's student debt forgiveness program, many younger potential homebuyers may feel discouraged about their homebuying goals. Agree or not with the program or decision, we are all looking for ways to help young homebuyers. To that end, I'm sharing information about an innovative program to do just that, LoanSense. LoanSense is an excellent program that helps to make three things: lowering student loan payments, increasing the homebuying budget and providing counseling on loan forgiveness programs. In a nutshell, this program allows homebuyers with student debt to refinance their student loans into more affordable payments, which helps them with their debt-to-income ratios. The program does have a cost. However, it is affordab...

El Arroyo is an iconic local spot in Austin. They make the best hand-squeezed margaritas and serve Black Angus beef tacos (along with many other Tex- Mex offerings) and have since 1975!A quirky marquee is out front on the corner of West 5th and Campbell. Every day they change their bill board with a new pun (everything imaginable). With our searing temperatures this week and looks like next week too, #3 is quite appropriate!   They encourage you to submit your pun on their website and of course have permission to post them. It’s one of those “Keep Austin Weird” things that we all in Austin love! They post them on Instagram because everyone loves them. Handsome Hudson and Beautiful Beckett are at Camp OTX for two weeks! Hudson and his buddy made the cover of an Instagram post! I loved the photo and the caption “Camp friends are the best friends.”        Last year Hudson and Beckett went for one week and loved all the fun activities offered. I can see why they say OTX is the premier Hill Country camp experience. They pride themselves on specific attention to each camper and their interests in order to create an amazing overall camp experience for each child! “Lifelong memories are only a camp away.” Unknown“Friends made at summer camp have a way of becoming family for life.” UnknownOur focus on individual

A good friend and colleague, Jane Chop, retired from our NW Coldwell Banker Office last week. She had been in our office for 23 years! She made the decision it was time and I know she is happy with her decision. We will miss her but know we will still be in touch and catching up with what is new going on in her life.             What a fun luncheon we had a Chez Zee to celebrate her retirement!                                                              Congratulations Jane!!!u “Retirement is not the end of the road. It is the beginning of the open highway.”  Unknownu “Retirement is wonderful. It’s doing nothing without worrying about getting caught at it.”  Gene Perrettu “Age is an issue of mind over matter.                                               I made a point to grab a ticket to attend another sensational event at Ao5 Gallery with some friends! I love their happenings they offer every month.Saturday June 24, 2023 they showcased a Jewelry Pop Up Shopping extravaganza from 12-5pm with Gogo Jewelry + Nicole Charbonnet's Artist Reception 5-7pm with a BOXT wine giveaway!                     We made it in time to catch the tail end of the Gogo Jewelry which was exciting and a very colorful, bohemian style. Gogo Borgerding, the artist is delightful and lives in New Orleans and loves to come to Austin. Today she is checking out the quirky Uncommon Objects shop, before dipping her toes into our iconic Barton Springs Pool. All before heading back to New Orleans!                   I’ve never ...

Nothing lights up my day more than watching you grow into this loving, committed; husband, dad, uncle, brother, son and business man. You are loved beyond measure and supported in everything you do. Happy Birthday Son!   “The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

Canyon Creek Elementary finished one last project from the funds received from my Geno’s Memorial, almost four years ago. I love how creative the children were who created this park bench! It will sit out on the kindergarten side of the school when school starts in August.      “Don’t cry because it’s over; smile because it happened.”  Dr. Seuss “The song is ended but the melody lingers on.”  Irving Berlin

Don't let the three F's mess up your goals - whether in happiness, employment, relationships, or becoming a homeowner. These three things that can disrupt a really great idea and overturn common sense:   u Friendsu Familyu Fear Fear is the most common and the most identifiable: What are you worried about? Is it something important? Is there a question that hasn't been answered to your satisfaction?  With an open mind fear can usually be addressed and resolved once you have a clear understanding of the data and facts. Often eliminating the frame of reference (or lack of a frame of reference) that's causing the fear in the first place is necessary. It’s all up to you! It involves replacing that limited (or non-existent) frame of reference with one that is broader and more accurate.   But ...

Who was Leslie? We all remembered this colorful character as he strutted Downtown Austin in a pair of heels ~ or a tutu, tiara, a feather boa or riding his bike in a thong! Leslie was a chronically unhoused man who lived in Austin from 1996- 2012. His name was Albert Leslie Cochran and was known in Austin as “Leslie.” He was a peace activist, cross-dresser, urban outdoorsman and outspoken critic of police treatment of the homeless. Leslie was born in Miami on June 24, 1951, and lived a nomadic life around the country, taking jobs in Seattle, Shreveport, and Atlanta. It’s said that Leslie made his way to Austin in 1996 and quickly became a local celebrity!Everyone remembers when he ran for Austin Mayor in 2000 and again in 2003, both times running on platforms of protecting the homeless ...

I love that both Handsome Hudson and Beautiful Becket are involved in summer league sports. It keeps them busy outside with practices and meets. They are both playing basketball and swim team.           Last week-end I snapped a photo of Beckett when she came out of the water after swimming the free-style. She was all smiles with a Heat Win! It's amazing what a strong swimmer she is but her dad was a collegiate swimmer so maybe not so surprising. I am so appreciative of clients who take the time to write a testimonial for me.       On a recent listing in Canyon Creek my sellers emailed this to me to insert on my website, use for any marketing needs and share with future clients. Thank you Kim and Greg for taking the time to write this for me! " Dorie helped us sell our house on the first day our house went on sale! Actually, it was within the first 20 minutes. We needed to sell our house fast, so we could have enough funds to pay for our new house in North Carolina.  We had lived in the Canyon Creek neighborhood for over 13 wonderful years, and we knew about her reputation--that if you were serious about wanting to sell your house, you just call Dorie. Dorie was very detailed in her recommendations of exactly what we needed to d...

Westlake Athletic Youth Association (WAYA) was the setting on the basketball court for a one time never to happen again match!Handsome Hudson and Beautiful Beckett are playing in the same summer basketball league with WAYA. Beckett has a good team of girls who are all just leaving the 3rd grade and going into the 4th. Handsome Hudson is playing on a team of boys leaving the 4th grade and they have been playing together for several years.Somehow their teams got matched up to play against each other and no one quite knows how it happened! The rumor mill was going strong and there were a lot of eyeballs on the game!                  The boys won hands down but the girls gave it their all and all was handled with great sportsmanship! Beckett received player of the week on her team so was ec...

May was an incredible month, who said real estate is slow! Our NW Coldwell Banker office crushed it with an incredible 35 agents eligible for the May Million Dollar Club by listing, writing business or closing sales of 1 million or more! We are adapting to the shift in the market of longer days on market, lower list prices, and increasing inventory in some areas.  It’s exciting to see everyone's hard work in servicing our clients, paying off.       I love working in an office where everyone works together in a culture of awesomeness, celebrating each other's success and encouraging each other to grow. With the changing market we are exchanging information weekly on what we are seeing in different price points and areas of Austin. Communities vary as to buyer demand therefore some listin...

The Driskill Hotel has been a landmark in Austin since 1886, making it the oldest operating hotel in the city. It’s a historic setting entrenched in timeless charm. The hotel is located in a prime location downtown off 6th street, close to exploring Austin’s entertainment district. Its only 10 minutes by foot to historic attractions like the Texas State Capital Building and Congress Avenue Bridge (to see the bats). You know you are in Austin when you walk through the doors...it’s Austin’s culture and has “seen history in the making.” So many legendary tales (including Samantha the ghost) and no one better to tell them than the famous mixologist, David Highfill, but unfortunately in 2019 he died suddenly in a car accident. He had been creating signature elixirs since February 1982 in The ...

The May Active Rain challenge was so fun because we were able to view so many members’ gardens and the array of flowers from all over the country!       Nostalgia set in and I started taking a trip down memory lane looking at photos of flowers I grew outside and flowers I’d received. I love white roses and my Geno always made sure on our anniversary and my birthday I could indulge in the beauty and fragrance of my favorites! Thank you for all the explosion of blooms you made sure I could enjoy!“The earth laughs in flowers.”    Ralph Waldo Emerson“Flowers…. are a proud assertion that a ray of beauty, outvalues all the utilities of the world.   Ralph Waldo Emerson
