Alyssa, my beautiful 4 1/2 year old mini-me, gradutated Pre-K last week from the Primrose School of Bee Cave.  She is all set for Kindergarten, ALREADY!! She won't be attending Public elementary school next year because of her birthday cut-off, but she will continue with the Primrose School of Bee Cave Private Kindergarten. For a couple of years, the view outside my office window was a vacant lot across the street. The builders had not put a house there yet.  I thought it would be fun to capture the entire building process on video, so I waited and waited for them to start "moving dirt", as they say.  One day, I finally saw the dumpster appear. That means they're ready... Each day that there was some type of progress on the house, I went out and shot a very short video from approximately the same spot each time. I then stitched all the videos together and produced this: As I was creating videos, I thought for sure that this would become a 5 minute video that would be way too long to interest people, but it's just over a minute. The Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave TX hosted the Lake Travis High School Parade of Champions on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. There was Elmo, free popcorn, free chocolate cake, and the kids even caught little footballs and volleyballs that were thrown from the cars, boats and trucks! Lake Pointe in Bee Cave Austin TX has some great year-end sales for 2011.  People always ask if the real estate market is getting "better".  What does "better" mean? It's very subjective... I decided to pull up sales data in Lake Pointe for all of 2010 to compare it to all the sales data for 2011.  For full disclosure, the charts and data below do NOT include the custom section in the back nor the gated section of Lake Pointe. Here is the data for the Days on the Market:      The big blue sections in both charts show the amount of homes that sold in under 30 days.  Did you know a "Buyer's Market" is recognized when the average is 6+ months on the market?  In both years, the 1 month mark showed quite a bit of activity. The community of Spillman Ranch, more commonly known as Falconhead, has shown some fairly good sales this year. The community is almost completed with just a couple of inventory homes from one builder left.  Look at the sales data from about September through November of 2010 vs 2011.   In 2010, homes were selling, for the most part, in under 60 days.  After that, there was a gap in sales and homes stayed on the market over 120 days and selling less of their asking price. Compared to the same period in 2011, priced well and showing well, properties sold within the first 30 days.  After that, properties did lack between the 30-60 day period, but were more consistent from 60 days+. This tells me that in 2010, people were more afraid to buy in the fall and winter months, but in 2011, with ... 12/20/2011

Ladera Bee Cave Texas is really happening! Following Bee Cave City Council’s approval of the Ladera subdivision’s site plan in October, Taylor Morrison Homes broke ground on a roughly 83-acre, single-family home neighborhood in Bee Cave. The ground work has been done, street name changed, and Phase I of Ladera Subdivision Bee Cave Texas has begun.   Phase 1 of Ladera Bee Cave Texas will include approximately 90 lots and five streets within the subdivision and should be ready for lot selection early spring 2012. OK, this isn't the best shot because of weather conditions, but it shows the new Whole Foods that is being built at the Hill Country Galleria Mall in Bee Cave. People all the way from Steiner Ranch to Lakeway to Bee Cave to Spicewood and even as far as Dripping Springs and Marble Falls have been very excited about this store coming to Bee Cave. The Hill Country Galleria in Bee Cave Austin TX hosts a trick or treating event every year for the kids, and adults too.  This year, the festivivities will be on Saturday, October 29th starting at 3pm. Last year, we made the mistake of waiting until 5:30 so we could go straight from trick or treating to the live music concert, but everyone but 6 stores were already out of candy, so this year we are going right at the beginning to help ensure a fun time! Falconhead West in Bee Cave TX, just West of Austin, is a growing community with so much building activity going on.  There are three builders within Falconhead West and three distinct sections, which means different pricing depending on where you want to be within the community. The three distinct sections are the 60' lots, the 70' lots, and the 80' lots. Many people think that just because the lot size gets bigger, that your neighbor is further away... but this is far from the truth.  What really happens? They put a larger home on the larger piece of property. In the 60' section, the homes are more around 2500 sqft. Falconhead West in Bee Cave TX had our annual Fall Festival yesterday sponsored by the Falconhead West HOA. Alyssa and Landon both had a blast. This year, there were two bounce houses instead of just one, so there was plenty of jumping room for everyone. There was also a Rock Climbing wall and Alyssa dared to try it this year. She loved it! Landon spent his time playing on the playscape climbing up his own version of a rock wall, and then going head first down the slide, as is his trademark sliding routine. P. Terry's even came in with burgers and fries. The weather was actually pretty hot for mid-October. We almost needed sprinklers or one of those water slides so we could cool off. Why can't it just RAIN in Bee Cave TX?? It rained in parts of Austin yesterday and the news even said Lakeway had 0.13 inches of rain, and they're just a couple of minutes away. Here is what my sidewalk looked like after 5 minutes... And after 20 minutes, this is all the rain that came through my gutters. Pretty sad that it wasn't enough to even poor out the splash pad... the drought is still on... Gumbo's, Bee Cave Texas was fabulous!  We arrived at Gumbo's Bee Cave location about 6:45 pm and were seated at a two-top table near the window.  Perfect!  I ordered a cup of Shrimp Gumbo and my gentleman friend ordered a cup of the Etouffees - both were wonderful, especially with the warm bread sticks that accompanied them. For entrees I had the Blackened Salmon Salad and Tom had Salmon Rockefeller.  I would highly recommend both  - delicious!  The salmon was moist and tender, and the portions generous. I could only eat half of mine, so took part home for dinner tonight.  We highlighted our meal at Gumbo's, Bee Cave, Texas with homemade Bread Pudding topped with a sweet sauce and ice cream.  Yummm!  Perfect ending to a fabulous meal.   Gumbo's Restaurant, Bee Cave  It was a mystery for a long time just which restaurant was going to open it's doors in the vacant building, near Best Buy in the Shops at The Galleria.  When the center announced that Gumbo's was going in, the community was very excited.  Gumbo's has been an icon in Austin for a number of years, beginning in north Austin in a very small space and expanding to four locatings today.  (I still love going to the downtown venue).  Tonight we are headed to dinner at this yummy spot.  Since I knew Gumbo's suggested reservations,  I looked online to get the phone number to call and make our reservations...and, low-n-behold, they had an online reservation service.  VERY COOL and so easy.  Dinner at Gumbo's Bee Cave at 6:30 PM.  I'll let you know how it goes.  In ... 09/24/2011

For the past couple of years, it's been rumored on and off that Hamilton Pool Rd will connect through Highway 71 and go all the way to Bee Cave Parkway at 620.  Bee Cave Parkway is where the huge City of Bee Cave Central Park is located, and the new location for The Backyard was built, but the street just ends.  At the other end, where Hamilton Pool Rd meets Highway 71, they were working on the construction to build a new CVS, but construction just stopped, the end...More rumors go about that they decided to not connect the roads... But now, construction is about to start again!  Taylor Morrison has a new 83 acre community being developed, Ladera Ranch, that is set to have over 330 residential properties.  Now, there is more incentive to get this road built!
