Boerne Large Trash Pickup Scheduled       It's that time again to take advantage of the FREE Large trash pickup for the City of Boerne.  If you are a residential customer and are billed for garbage service by the city, then you are eligible for large item pickup.  The date will be on Monday, November 7th.  To have the items picked up you must call the Utility Customer Service office at 830-249-9511.   The deadline to schedule the pickup is November 4th.  All the items for pickup must be curb side by Sunday November 6th.                                                                 The Waste Management Company will NOT pick up the following items:  Tires, batteries, brush or paint cans.  The garbage truck will come down the street one time so make sure you got your junk out the day be... 09/20/2011

Today I visited a number of "preferred builders" to produce a video series of my favorite builders and communities.  Why not?  Builders have their "preferred Realtors."  To get started I had to evaluate which builders and communities to feature, which made me think through green community criteria. Maybe by reading this you too will be inspired to make videos, know your communities, think about quality of life, and quality of construction. Berges Fest began as a simple ice cream social in 1967, but since it has grown into a 3 day weekend extravaganza complete with a Beauty Contest, Lawn Mower & Dautschund races, egg toss contest, carnival rides, dances, bands, watermelon eating contest and much, much more.   The Lions Club and the Boerne Chamber of Commerce felt that Boerne really needed an annual city-sponsored event, like Poteet Stawberry Festival or Wurst Fest in New Braunfels.  With $500 and a few volunteers Berges Fest was born and has since been celebrated every Father's Day weekend.  The first Berges Fest had a free street dance, a Mexican Food booth and music by the Boerne Village Band and the U.S. Air Force Band.  The Miss Berges Fest competition was held on Friday night with the winner announced the next day. An... 06/06/2011

Our vegetable garden and flowers are in a designated area of our landscape because the whitetail deer love us. Yes, they absolutely love us and our vegetable garden and flowers. When we come out to work in the garden they appear from out of the blue, stand at the fence and watch every move. If we accidently leave the gate open they will walk right in and devour eveything in sight. Here are a few things you could try to help keep them out. Now if they are really hungary just pray. 1.  Try human hair under chicken wire around your plants. Volunteers needed for the Boerne Hauptstrasse Quiltfest on May 7th in downtown Boerne. Pick a shift! At this point they are all open. Lunch will be provided to volunteers that help during the lunch time frame. 7:30-10am- Hang Quilts Quilt Angels 10-11:30 11:30-1 1-2:30 2:30-4 4-5 5-7- Take Down Quilts and return to the Dienger Building    We welcome and encourage multiple shifts if you are interested in committing that much time.
