Bryan-College Station Makes More Top 10 Lists Fresh off the heels of being named a Top 10 US College Town and one of the 10 Great Places to Live, we find out that Bryan-College Station makes more Top 10 lists.  As someone who lives here, I can tell you that this is not exactly news to me.  I am well aware of what a great area this is to reside.  However, it's always nice to be recognized so that other people can see why living in the Bryan-College Station area is so wonderful. The consumer advocacy website NerdWallet recently released its list of Best Cities in Texas for Job Seekers.  It shouldn't surprise you that the City of Bryan made the list.  The unemployment rate in Bryan was 5.1% (April 2013), which was a full 2.4% less than the national average at the time (7.5%)and 1.3% under ...

Kiplinger, a personal finance magazine, ranks cities across the nation based on several factors, including local economy, home prices and school system.  Bryan-College Station came in at #3 on the list.  With its safe community, top notch school system, strong economic development, 5.7% unemployment rate and fantastic health care system, it's no wonder that Bryan-College Station makes the list of 10 Great Places to Live for small to mid-size cities in the ...

Terrible tragedies such as the Boston Marathon bombing have really shown the importance of the role that first responders play in an emergency.  With the two local firefighters' deaths in the Knights of Columbus fire in Bryan this past February and the many people affected by the deaths and injuries caused in the West TX fertilizer plant explosion in March, our community has been hit hard.  This Friday, May 10th, 2013, local non-profit organization Always There for Texas will be hosting a Bryan and West Fire Department Benefit Concert. Beginning at 7pm at Bryan's Grand Stafford Theater (located at 106 South Main Street), the Coleman Brothers with Eric Myers will be performing a "Tribute to a Firefighter".  In addition to the live concert, attendees can bid on locally donated goods and s...

All any parent ever wants for their child is to be happy and healthy.  Unfortunately, that isn't always the case.  Children fighting pediatric cancer spend far too long inside of a hospital.  They need fresh air and fun.  Camp Quality Texas agrees.  That's why they offer a special summer camp catering specifically to children with cancer and their families.  In order to continue their summer program, they are holding a CQ TX Crawfish Boil fundraiser in Bryan this Sunday, April 28, 2013. Approximately 13,500 children are diagnosed with some form of pediatric cancer every year.  In fact, the number of children diagnosed with invasive cancer has increased 29% over the past two decades alone.  Camp Quality Texas is a non-profit organization that has offered kids with cancer a respite from t...

Last night I attended an all you can eat Parmesan Chicken Dinner at Kozi Kitchen.  Kozi Kitchen is owned an operated by Joanne Kozik.   Joanne started Kozi Kitchen to offer busy moms, college students, and elderly people well balanced meals, made fresh and with that homemade touch instead of fast food options.  All dishes are home made with love in her kitchen and you can either pick up or have the meal delivered. Last night was a special night, where she had eat in guests, served family style in her dining area.  There was a large group of eight who were finishing up their meal when my friend and I arrived.  They were laughing, and enjoying the quiet atmosphere.  Being in a college town, it is very rare to find a restaurant that is not packed and extremely loud. My friend and I made ou...

Water is one of our most precious resources.  It covers 70% of our planet, makes up 60% of the entire human body's composition and 70% of the human brain.  We will die of thirst (3-5 days) long before we will die of hunger (as long as a month).  If you are interested in being more eco-friendly in your own Brazos County home, you can learn how to harvest rainwater in Bryan-College Station this Saturday, February 16, 2013. I will be closing on a property January 30,2013 that is a result of a direct mail effort from over 3 years ago.  Yes, she saved my letter!!! I recently received a call from a client who wanted me to list three lots in the Benchley Oaks Subdivision of Bryan, Texas.  During our conversation, I ask how she heard about me and my client stated that she had saved a letter from three years ago when I listed Mr. Rowland's home.  Well this was great news, I was beginning to think that the letters had not worked. I listed the three lots on 12/6/2012 and we went under contract 1/8/13 and will close on 1/30/2013.  Fantastic results and all due to a farming letter sent over three years ago, not to mention that we got both the seller and the buyer side of the deal.  Not only did we get both sides, bu...
