It is no news that the housing industry in Central Texas has suffered as a result of the recession but has recently shown signs of stabilizing. Not only have there been signs of the housing market stabilizing, but many economists feel that it could be turning the corner to recovery soon. Unfortunately, there has been a lull in new home construction in Texas and across the country as a result of the housing market collapse. Central Texas cities saw a 6 percent decrease in permits issued for new homes for the 12-month period that ended in September, according to the Houston-based Bohlke Consulting Group.The Bohlke group tracks more than two dozen areas and in 17 of those areas there was a noted permit activity decline.
