There’s more to moving into a new home than unpacking boxes and doing a little decorating. Once you have a set of keys, it’s easy to forget about some of the most important things during the stress of a move. To help you remember some of those overlooked tasks, here are five things new homeowners should do during their first month in a new home: Update Your Address It may not be your first priority, but it’s critical to update your address on important accounts. FrontDoor recommends updating your address on your voter registration, driver’s license, bank accounts and tax forms. Updating early will save you from headaches later on and ensure that you’re getting your documents and important mail delivered to your new home. The USPS Mover’s Guide can be accessed online, which makes changin...

So many of us take for granted the fact that we possess the ability to run or walk.  More than that, we take for granted that we actually have shoes on our feet and more to spare at home.  This is not always the case for underprivileged children right here in our Bryan-College Station community.  The BCS Regional Associaton of REALTORS® wants that to change.  That is why they are hosting the  2015 College Station Realtors Run/Walk With Pride on Saturday, April 11th.     View image | gettyimages.com Purchasing a home is one of the most important investments you will ever make! Home maintenance is key to helping that investment go a long way. One of the benefits of maintaining the health of your home is that it might help you save lots of money in the long run. Small problems that originally would have only cost you a couple of bucks and a few minutes to fix can easily rack over to over thousands of dollars in repairs.  Everyone who lives in your home can be affected by the condition of your home, especially if there are major health hazards. Maintaining your home can provide a healthy environment for your family. An effective way to keep your home in great condition is with daily, quarterly, and yearly home maintenance. Consider adding these mainten...

On Saturday April 11th, the 17th Annual Bryan/College Station Regional Association of REALTORS 5k Fun Run/Walk is taking place at Wolf Pen Creek, located at 1015 Colgate Drive in College Station. The run is held to help Payless Shoes gain funds, in order to gift children in need with shoes for school.  If you love running, then this fundraiser is for you. Sometimes we can become so accustomed to necessities, that we forget how privileged we are to have them.  Can you imagine having to worry about going to school barefoot? As a community, we should not become complacent of the needs of children less fortunate than ours.  The 17th Annual Fun Run is a time for the community to gather together and help our neighbors who are less fortunate.    The price is only $18 dollars, but if you regi...

Not trying to sell anyone on why our area is such a great location to reside at right now . Suffice it to say just  simply Google the two communities and you will soon discover just how great it really is. We have never ever in my 36 years in the business had such a shortage of homes AND our commercial and investment properties inventory is likewise seeing a former glut of properties being whittled down daily.   Having multiple offers come in  on a new listing the first day it hits the market is now become a common place event in several price ranges of homes. Commercial buildings that have been for sale for years are finally selling also. BCR Realtors is proud to be a part of this vibrant economy!

A Special Government Home Renovation Loan Program with College Station TX FHA 203k Loans.     Many people are not aware of a special government loan program that is part of the Federal Housing Administration or FHA(a department within HUD). Existing home owners or potential home buyers can remodel and update their homes without having a higher cost second lien because of this FHA loan program.         The loan program does not allow for “luxury items” which are defined as items like a swimming pool or hot tub, etc. But you can repaint, replace flooring, remodel cabinetry in kitchens and bathrooms, add wallpaper, replace appliances – even add a room to an existing structure (which can significantly add to value as you increase the square footage of your home).         Many advantages exi...

Reading is an important building block in a child's education.  Approximately 36 million American adults only read at a 3rd grade level or below.  That should be a crime.  Do not let this happen with your children.  If they are in grades three through eight and live in the College Station community, they are invited to join in with other students across the country as Barbara Bush reads to College Station students.
