In recent months I have noticed several changes in the local community.  The economic news we have been receiving is unlike we have ever seen in the past. Bank failures, stock nose dives, automaker bailouts, etc. etc.  Most of the changes locally are positive.  There seems to be more of a focus on customer service.  You know the simple little things like "thanking you for your business", "being polite", "helpful attitude" and so on.  I think people are finally "getting it" that people buy people before they purchase a product.  I find this very good news indeed.  Now, I must add that my community is a pretty friendly place overall, but I have noticed that it has stepped up a notch. Notwithstanding the above, I noticed something recently that I think is new, but perhaps I just hadn't not...

In today's global world, developing and implementing a strategy to obtain financial freedom is a necessity.  A comfortable retirement just does not happen by chance for the majority of us.  We all have witnessed this year the deterioration of our equity accounts- 401k's, SEP IRA's etc as well as our home values in many areas of the country.  We constantly hear that we need to diversify our assets, to stay the course and invest long-term.  I believe these to be worthy principles as we do not need to have knee jerk reactions to the ever changing stock market.  Warren Buffet who epitomizes how to invest for the long-term states it very clearly- "Invest the way I do....Long term." So how do you define Financial Freedom?  How much money do you need?  At what age do you want to retire, how mu...

Being a transplant to Texas from New England I am still learning the differences between the Northeast and the Southwest.  A couple of days ago I was going out to my car at work, and I noticed that there was painting on our office windows.  I semi-jokingly said "Look!  We've been vandalized!" - I was mistaken; it was merely the carrying on of a long lived tradition of supporting the local High School Football Team.  The Coppell Cowboys to be exact! As a show of support it is quite common place to paint your business windows with words of encouragement for the Team! The Coppell Cowboys are in the playoffs and have advanced to the District Championship to play the Allen Eagles at Texas Stadium tonight at 8:00pm.  There is a big send off planned tonight at the High School beginning at 5:30...

A 3.0 earthquake shook parts of North Texas just after midnight. The U.S. Geological Survey reports North Texas experienced a "series of earthquakes." The first quake happened around 11:25 p.m. and was a magnitude 2.5 centered near the Irving and Grand Prairie line The second quake was right around midnight and another report around 3am. The local news reports that there were several 911 calls reporting a possible explosion. Personally, I didn't feel a thing!. Happy Halloween too! Good Morning from North Texas - Rick

We were recently introduced to this service at a Sales Rally held at the Hackberry Country Club in Irving.  I have used it on my laptop at home as well as on my desktop at work. It is just as advertised.  Easy, no software needed, and effortless in sending and receving video messages. We are holding a training session at noon today at Weichert, Realtors - Watson & Associates, 202 W. Sandy Lake Road, Coppell, TX 75019 in our main conference room and have invited our sister offices in North Texas as well.  Lunch will be provided and sponsored by 1st Community Mortgage. Take a look at the video demo below. By the way, did I mention that it is free? For more info go to http://www.eyejot.com/ Good Morning from Coppell, TX - Rick

I just learned this afternoon that Microsoft now has available Internet Explorer 8 Beta for free download. Now I know that opinions vary regarding "beta" versions of software.  But I wanted to share my experience in the last few days. An individual at our office complained that she was not able to access a couple of critical items on her laptop.  So I did my normal troubleshooting, cleaning, scanning, etc., to find and remove whatever was causing the functions she reported not to work. I had noticed early on that her Internet Explorer did appear slightly different but since there were many add-ons installed, i.e. toolbars, views, etc., I targeted removing or disabling those first. Well, to make a long story short.  After searching the internet for some clues to solve the problems she...

One of the many reasons I relocated from New England to the Dallas area is the Mexican Food.  Besides Taco Bell Connecticut doesn’t have much to choose from in this area.  Of course if you love seafood and a Saturday night lobster dinner is something you crave, then New England is where you want to be. Recently I departed the office for lunch in a state of mind of “I’m not sure what sounds good today.”  What makes this decision difficult at times here is that there is just so much available all within minutes.     I remembered seeing a place that I pass everyday on my way to work called Guero’s Mexican Grill.  So with that thought my decision was made.   Located near the Irving/Coppell town line at 817 S. MacArthur Blvd., Coppell, TX 75019. (Belt Line & MacArthur)   In a strip mall sett...

I thought I would share something that happened to me recently. I recently thought that I would download some music from the internet (legally of course).  So I noticed a site that I had heard of http://www.rhapsody.com/ who offered a "free 14 day trial" - if I understood the promotion it said something about unlimted downloads. So I thought this was exactly what I was looking for so I went through the standard account sign up procedure with of course providing my credit card information. So far so good.  I received the email welcoming me and confirming my membership. I signed onto the site and noticed that my account with http://www.rhapsody.com/ included my ability to search and "listen" to any song that I wanted.  To download was an additional fee of $.99 per song. Now, don't get me ...
