Thinking of selling your home in Crosby and wondering what the Real Estate Market is like? Maybe this will help. The date of this report is 2/24/2011. From 1/1/2011 through today 18 houses have sold in the Crosby zip code of 77532. Houses ARE SELLING! Here are some statistics: They average 1931 square feet. The average list price was $153,861 and the average sells price was 144,955.56 which is 94 % of the list price. This is a great number, as it shows that listing REALTORS are pricing houses close to actual sells price. (however, this might possibly be after multiple price reductions, which is not reflected in this number.) Based on the numbers above, the average price per square footage was $75.07. If you are considering selling your house and it is on an average 1/3 acre lot, you may...

Storage Units and Horse Barns for Newport Residents If you are a resident of Newport in Crosby, TXSt, or you are thinking of moving to the Crosby area, and need a storage unit or horse stall, the community does have them. The facilities are located off of S. Diamondhead. There is a bit of a drive down a gravel road to get to them, but it is not much of a problem. It looks as though this is a great place to park a boat or trailer to keep it out of your yard. To see what they look like, look at this short video clip: To find out if they are available, you will need to call the management company. The contact information is: Rhonda Sundberg rsundberg@houcomm.com Houston Community Management 17049 El Camino Real #100 Houston, TX. 77058 Main: 832-864-1200 Fax: 281-218-6973

Are you thinking of moving to Newport in Crosby TX and wondering what is available in this big neighborhood? Or, maybe you already live in Newport, but are curious if you really want to go through the trouble of getting your Lake and River pass and key. When I first moved to Newport, I saw all the signs talking about Lake and River access. Then I would read the monthly newsletters about getting a key and paying a deposit for a "Lake and River Key". I was SO curious about what the Lake and River access Park was, that I went and got a Lake and River key and a Lake and River Pass. I had wished that I had an idea of what I was getting myself into. It isn't exactly what I expected. To get back there, it is what seems like a fairly long drive down a very bumpy, often muddy dirt road. I timed ...

I have confirmed that as of 7/9/2010, the transfer fee for the home owner's association for the subdivision on Indian Shores in Crosby, TX is $150. Most listings for this community list the transfer fee at $250 which is incorrect. If you see a listing that states that the fee is $250, please make a note that this is incorrect. Thanks!

A Quick Drive Down Port O'Call in the Newport Subdivision in Crosby, TX If you are interested in the Newport Subdivision, but can't get down here yet to check it out, maybe this will help. I drove down the street, holding my video camera out of the car door. I shot this video at 12 noon on Friday, July9th, 2010. I started at the duck ponds enterance, turned right onto Port O'Call, then turned right onto North Diamondhead to exit onto FM 2100. This is approx. 3 miles of driving. The video lasts for a little more than 6 minutes, but it seems faster than that because I was driving at 30 miles per hour most of the time. Sites you will see along the way: The duck pond park, the irragation canal, the playground park, the gulley, and then Newport Elementary school. All the other structures alo...

If you are wondering where all those flags came from in Crosby, TX, I will help you solve the mystery. Every year Alliance Properties purchases thousands of flags to place in the front yard of as many yards in Crosby as we can manage. We do this as a gift from the REALTORS in our office to our neighbors and the community. It looks so great to see a flag in each yard as you drive around.   We carefully prepare little gift cards to put on each flag. This year, however, it is pouring, thanks to Hurricane Alex' rains.     We put all of the flags out in the yards in the rain, which actually was better than 100 degree heat and drought, but the little gift cards did not hold up to the moisture very well. We were afraid that the cards will wash away in the flood waters.                 We alway...

Most important, I have received clients from people finding me by my blog posts. Actual business. I received my license to be a REALTOR the week before I signed on with Active Rain. My goal is to be top in the Houston area. But, that is a big ol' giant goal, and it is not my top goal in life. My o...

On Friday, I read Bob Haywood's blog: I'm the New Mayor In Town He had been to the ActiveRain Camp in Dallas and they said start a Facebook Fan page for your local community. He crafted a fan page for his town in Oklahoma, and it was off to a great start, so he posted about his success with it. I read the blog, and commented on it. I jumped to it, and started a Crosby, TX fan page. That was noon on Friday. Last check, about 5 minutes ago, we already have 375 fans!!! I started the page by asking for photos or any cool commits. Interestingly, 2 of my 3 first fans are people I met on Active Rain that live other places. Then, I followed up with a second post that promoted a benefit that had been planned for a few weeks to help a family that has two critically ill children. The benefit was a...

This time of year, guys are always looking for a great place to buy that girl an interesting, romantic gift.           There is a really great little gift shop tucked into the old township of Crosby, TX on Kernohan named Mrs. Gena's Best Tea, and Candles. This store is in a great location. It is across the street from the old Antique Stores on FM 2100. It is visible from FM 2100, with a colorful sign facing the main road.       When you go inside you see lots and lots of inventory. She stocks coffee, teas, little chocolates and breads to go along with the teas, and loads of candles, beautiful plates and tea pots and gifts. She also has lotions, jewelry, toys for the kids, and all kinds of collectibles. There are beautiful glass items in the windows that seem to glow. This store has a Vi...

One of the best reasons to live in Crosby, TX, Northeast of the Greater Houston Area of Texas, is February. I can remember once, back in 1984, it snowed the first week of February. The first week is usually cold. Then winter seems to loose it's edge and it warms up. 97% of Valentines Day's since 1973 have been clear, sunny days with highs in the 60's. Today the day started out Grey and misty, but around 11:00am the clouds parted. There is usually a day that comes early in February where the clouds break, the sun shines and chases the clouds quickly away. Everything is scrubbed clean from the rain that usually lasts the entire month of January and the place looks great, clean and sparking. When the sun comes out, the winter grasses instantly green up. You can see in the pictures that the...

I sit in my office, waiting for the phone to call, as it is my turn for floor duty. The brokerage that I work with does not believe in answering machines. My broker believes that when people call our general number, they are ready to speak to a real live person that can answer questions, or give out cell phone numbers of an agent with out having to push a lot of buttons. I completely agree with her. When I am ready to get business done, I do not want to sit on a answering machine tape for When I was a teacher, I had to do duty, too. But the duty was different... I had to watch the kids as they ate breakfast, or as they waited for their bus to arrive. Sometimes I'd have to stand there watching too many children for an hour. Desk duty in my office is much more pleasant. I get to sit at MY...

There is so much history surrounding the San Jacinto River, which runs through several counties of East Texas. However, most of this great river runs through sections of the Greater Houston Area. It is a magnificent area in which to live, so if you are considering moving to the Houston Area, here is some information about the San Jacinto River area and the great places the surround it. This blog will cover the Eastern banks of the river. Next time I will discuss the Western banks. The mouth of the San Jacinto River opens onto and forms Galveston Bay. Before the river reaches the Bay, it joins up with Buffalo Bayou, which is the body of water that the Houston Ship Channel is built upon. Because of this connection to the Houston Ship Channel, many people are under the misconception that...
