Black Friday shoppingthis is the way to enjoy Black Friday... by Sofa-Surfing the Sales!     I have to take a pass on the whole camping out overnight, or hitting the stores in the wee hours of the morning. Today is for getting my office work completed and starting on Christmas decorations.  The crowds will have to enjoy Black Friday shopping without me!   From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia   Black Friday is the day following Thanksgiving Day in the United States, traditionally the beginning of the Christmas shopping season. On this day, most major retailers open extremely early and offer promotional sales to kick off the holiday shopping season, similar to Boxing Day sales in many Commonwealth Nations. Black Friday is not an official holiday, but many non-retail employers also obser...

You see that thing up there?  How many of them do you suppose you have in your wallet? If you've had yours for several years, you probably got them when the Prime Rate was no less than 4%, but actually probably a bit more. The average interest rate you agreed to pay for use of your credit cards approached 19%. So the bank issuing the card had a 60 basis point spread.  For every dollar you charged, to pay it back at the end of a year cost you $1.19. The bank made 15 cents of that. But since the Recession of 2008, banks have paid less than 1% for money they borrow from the Fed.  Were your credit card rates lowered to, say, 16%? By retaining this enormous "spread gift," the credit card companies have been able to take greater risks, issuing cards and for maximum borrowing amounts that they...

Many wonder what the day in a life is like for a Dallas area Realtor®...okay, maybe not "many", but surely - some?     Seriously, though, a real estate professional's life is much the same as any busy business professional.  We all have to manage juggling multiple tasks to a successful fruition.  Every morning we wake up and face our to-do list (written or otherwise) with a few what-ifs sprinkled in.  Time management is a key component to a day ending with a smile and not a frown (or worse).  Our negotiating and contract skills are on demand constantly and we practice patience at a transcendental level as we have been known to manage wildlife, unleashed pets and the occasional screaming toddler. On any given day or during any given week, we are: Touring properties Negotiating offers Man...

The low inventory trend is changing for the Dallas area, but the available pre-owned homes (resale) remains well below what we need.  September reflected another increase in inventory to challenge the long-running trend:      New construction homes had a decrease in their available inventory from 2016:        And although the median price fluctuates month to month, it is exciting to see that the median home price continues to rise for our Dallas Real Estate market in resale homes:       And homes are being listed and sold within a close margin, showing that the pricing is on target for both resale and new construction homes:         Are you ready to search for your new Dallas area Dream Home?     Click the logo to begin!

Federal law from the beginning of time was that the US Government would provide postal service, and that private carriers could not compete. Whether or not it had worked efficiently is an opinion that's up for grabs.  Federal Express could have never been invented had they not negotiated an exception.  It was this:  They would provide super fast, next day delivery of important mail, a service that the US Postal Service was not providing. The deal would be predicated on the customer's honor that it needed fast delivery, and FedEx's honor that it would stick to that one type of service.   To seal the agreement with a kiss, FedEx was required to print "Urgent" on the face of each of its special envelopes, and it wasn't allowed to transport anything that wasn't in one of those fancy envelop...

I've been unable to quickly track down when the U.S. realized that twelve years of education should be paid by taxpayers, not to continue to be the sole burden of the parents of school children. I do remember my grandmother telling me that she was beginning college before "free" education was approved and offered in Louisiana where she lived. Back then, some very wise souls realized, and were able to convince a majority, that the more who reached adulthood properly educated, the better civilization would become, the better life for everyone would be. So, they came up with a plan...the most fair, and the most workable.  Public education would be in the hands of each state, it would be paid for by additional property taxes, and the citizenry and businesses would share the cost based on th...

Pumpkins, gourds, and squash can also be purchased.  Kids can learn about colors, shape, size, words, and wisdom. It's fun to get creative when there are so many different types of pumpkins, gourds, and squash. It is a great opportunity to incorporate language, tell stories, sing songs, and write poetry about all the things you can see and do at the Dallas Arboretum located at 8525 Garland Road, Dallas, Texas (214) 515-6500. Taking photos is fun too and you can count pumpkins, gourds, and squash too!   Diversity exists her on earth, even when it comes to pumpkins, gourds, and squash. And they are go...
