If you love a place where it is peaceful, safe and you can be a kid again then Sun City Texas is the place you want to visit.This community is like a little town within a metropolitan area. It has everything from it's own bank, hair salon, dentist, convenience store, chiropractor to a golf cart store and restaurants. Not to mention it also has a fitness center, 3 pools, tennis courts, 2 golf courses and any kind of activity you could possibly want to be involved in. Did I mention peaceful? Want a sleepy town atmosphere?  Georgetown, Tx is the place to be. Serenada continues to be a hot community in Georgetown.  Looking at this year's sales statistics as compared to last year -- we're up ~$12/sqft.  Last year in May - June homes were hovering at the $88/sqft.  This year, we're looking at ~$100/sqft.  In fact, some of the smaller homes in Serenada are fetching upwards of $116!So -- what gives?  Well, the west side of Georgetown is experiencing significant growth.  It almost seems as though all of Williams Drive is under construction.  Serenada was the first executive neighborhood built in Georgetown -- beginning back in the 1970s.  So, you will find all custom homes -- and many are on .5 acre lots or more.  With acre lots now going for $145,000 in Estrella Estates (adjacent to Serenada), it sure makes the Serenada homes appealing: a custom... 06/25/2007

Georgetown Texas established in 1848 and where Southwestern University was built in 1873 and the railroad in 1878. These two things contributed greatly to the growth and importance of the community. Today Georgetown is the County seat for Williamson County( 2006pop. 353,830). Population of Georgetown in 1980 was 9,468, in 1990 it was 14,842, and in 2000 it had grown to 28,339. April 28th and 29th, Georgetown, Texas, celebrates the coming of Spring with their annual Red Poppy Festival.  In anticipation, poppy seeds are planted all over town, by city officials and townsfolk alike.  In addition to admiring the flowers, the festival will have (big surprise, this being Central Texas) live music, the 3rd Annual Red Poppy Ride (benefiting the Sertoma Scholarship Fund), and lots more fun and frivolity in honor of the Red Poppy and spring, from 6 a.m. until whenever the street dance ends on Saturday night (it starts at 9:30), and from 11 a.m. until the last act ends (it starts at 4:00) on Sunday.So come on to downtown Georgetown and party with us!    04/25/2007

Georgetown is growing by leaps and bounds.  In an attempt to guide that growth for the good of the city, the city has put certain parameters in place.  And now we're seeing the results of that effort.  A new subdivision is coming to town - Water Oak at San Gabriel, a conservation subdivision.  Out of 1900 acres (4000 homes, 100 acres commercial/retail, 1500 multi-family homes), 650 acres are being reserved for conservation.  It'll be interesting to watch this development grow and see how well the new rules work.  They're intended to protect our environment as well as the overall ambiance of the area (not to mention our water supply).  I've seen other developments in the works or in the planning stages that reflect this more holistic approach to developing.  Some that are planned or unde... 02/24/2007

Alternative fuels are a hot topic right now.  Well, heck, with first Willie and his BioWillie, and then the President, talking them up, how could they not be?  One major problem remaining, however, is how to get them distributed in the same widespread fashion as fossil fuels.  An infrastructure is needed in order for alternative fuels to be competitive.  What to do?  What to do? Well, CleanFUEL USA, Inc., a Georgetown, Texas, company, and ProTec Fuel Management, LLC, in Florida, are joining together to provide a turnkey solution to this problem. After what seems like a Very Long Time, for those of us waiting with anticipation, the new Georgetown Public Library, in Georgetown, Texas, is having its grand opening today!  The event, complete with dancers, singers, puppets, face painters, and more (any excuse for a party!) celebrates the culmination of many hours of work, fundraising, planning, and energy on the part of many book-loving citizens put into a new home for the city's library.  Bibliophile that  I am, I'm planning on a visit at the earliest possible opportunity.    01/20/2007

I blogged back in December about how all the elves in our office (that would be us agents) were climbing all over things decorating in an attempt to give back to the community, and were going to have an open house complete with Santa Claus.  Well, we did, it went wonderfully, and I thought I'd share a photo of our office the night of the event.  We did this with just a couple weeks' notice and buying some stuff, going through our attics and pulling out things we weren't going to use on our houses, and a couple of weekends (plus adding stuff here and there throughout the week).  We plan to do better next year!   01/12/2007

   Georgetown, Texas, has been taking some action to help keep the inevitable growth at our doorstep  from destroying the very ambiance that draws people to move here in the first place.  Latest in this effort tree protection rules, intended to apply to "heritage trees" of a 26-inch or greater diameter of species including American elm, bald cypress, cedar elm, chinquapin oak, live oak, Monterey oak, pecan, post oak, shumard oak, Southern magnolia, Texas ash and walnut, passed its first reading December 12 and will have its final reading on January 9.  Pruning or cutting these trees without a permit could result in a $5,000 fine.The rules are not intended to apply to single homeowners wishing to clean up or remove trees on their property, but rather to encourage developers to preserve t... 12/19/2006

This is a great time of year to take advantage of one of Georgetown, Texas', beautiful outdoor amenities - the Goodwater Trail, 26 recently completed and connected miles of varied beauty (see photos at the linked site) winding its way around Lake Georgetown.  Not too not, not too cold - it's just right if you're someone who likes to stretch out and walk a few hours.  And the Goodwater Trail offers enough variety of walking experience that you'll never be bored!  I sent my husband off to hike it a couple of weekends ago - I had things to do and he needed to (well, let's be honest, I needed him to) get out and commune with nature and walk off some grumpiness.  It happened to be drizzling that day, and he came back soaked, and happy as a clam.  I highly recommend it for anyone visiting, re... 11/13/2006
