My husband Mark and I purchased a 12.9-acre tract of land just three blocks north of our historic town square here in Granbury, Texas almost 4 years ago. When we spotted this tract of land, we knew it was something special. Being walking distance to the Square, we saw the potential for this little tract.Yesterday, we successfully closed the tract after working with a developer out of the Metroplex for over a year. We are busting at the seams about this new housing development. It will feature 69, front-porch series homes in a gated neighborhood. The price point will be in the high 200's to the mid-400's.The street scenes will be pre-determined in order to maintain the visual integrity of the neighborhood. The neighborhood may be a 55+ development but this has yet to be determined. We wi...

Recently, I stepped forward in faith and filed for an open local school board seat. Many have asked me why I felt compelled to do this. Trust me, I have thought long and hard and know that I have made a well-thought-out decision. My reasons are numerous for running for this position.  I love my community and know this is how I can serve the students, teachers, and families in our area. I moved back to my hometown of Granbury, Texas four years ago. This is a community where I received my Jr. High and High School education! Granbury ISD prepared me very well for life after high school. Before my real estate career 16 years ago, I was a high school Biology teacher. I have first-hand experience in the classroom teaching a core subject. I have a child in this school district who just enter...

How Our City Responded to a ProtestThis past weekend, our normally quiet little historic town experienced two days of back to back protests. Both of these events were planned in advance, and therefore, the city was able to plan and prepare. As a business and building owner on our town square, we were of course interested in what to expect.  What I can report is I have never been more proud of the town where I reside. Our law enforcement agencies were extremely prepared, had coordinated efforts on all fronts, and exhibited extreme professionalism throughout the events. Our Chief of Police stepped up and all of the people marching, business owners, and citizens experienced an event with absolutely no incidents. I was impressed by those who marched. They were allowed to speak from their he...

Beam & Branch Realty ~ Farm & RanchFarm and ranch real estate is a very specialized discipline that requires knowledge, experience, and specialized skills. In order to navigate the various nuances in farm and ranch properties, it is important to understand the various types of situations that arise from these types of sales. Farm and ranch real estate is entirely different from residential sales. Understanding soil types, fencing, topography, crops, animal ratios, drainage, water needs, infrastructure, prevailing winds, minerals, along with many other issues are just some of the topics that are discussed with these types of properties. Agents must have a thorough knowledge of these issues in order to properly represent a farm and ranch transaction. Therefore, it is imperative for client...
