Keller Williams Realty is hosting the Denim and Diamonds Gala on New Year's Eve at the Marriott Intercontinental Airport hotel on New Year's Eve from 8:00 pm until 1:00 am. Pictures and Video of Hurricane Ike in Kingwood TX Staying at home for my first hurricane was truly an unforgettable experience. Two days before the storm came ashore, Hurricane Ike was expected make landfall somewhere between Corpus Christi and Freeport. Being about 25 miles north of Houston, I was only expecting tropical storm force wind and some rain. As the storm approached the projected landfall kept moving north, and moved north again. The eye crossed Galveston island, made a hard right turn, and crossed right over Kingwood TX. Surprise. The outer bands of the storm really started to be felt around midnight with the power going out at 12:03 am.
