Pictures and Video of Hurricane Ike in Kingwood TX Staying at home for my first hurricane was truly an unforgettable experience. Two days before the storm came ashore, Hurricane Ike was expected make landfall somewhere between Corpus Christi and Freeport. Being about 25 miles north of Houston, I was only expecting tropical storm force wind and some rain. As the storm approached the projected landfall kept moving north, and moved north again. The eye crossed Galveston island, made a hard right turn, and crossed right over Kingwood TX. Surprise. The outer bands of the storm really started to be felt around midnight with the power going out at 12:03 am. Yes, it has been tough, but I know of people having it tougher following the passing of hurricane Ike.  We are now experiencing day 9 without electricity and though we experienced a God sent cool front the first few days it is steadily getting hotter outside.  My wife, Laurie, has just wrapped up the first trimester of pregnancy and is not enjoying this the least bit.  We were finally able to get our 2-year-old daugheter back into school today since they were some of the lucky few in the Kingwood area to regain power.  I am sitting outside of the Harris County Public Library branch located on Rustic Woods in Kingwood feeding off the WiFi.  Though it is tough, there are people dealing with much more. Jennifer Shuble, a graduate of Kingwood High School, has won the Gold at the 2008 Olympics. Jennifer won the Olympic Gold Medal for her performance in the Paralympic Games' Women's Cyclist 500m Time Trial. She not only won the Gold but broke the world's record! Jennifer has set a new record for the CP4 class. Not bad for a newcomer to the U.S. track cycling program, which she joined in 2006.   Jennifer's name may not have been world known before, but it is now. Before her win, she wasn't even considered a "big contender".   However,  other cyclists and cycling enthusiasts now know that Jennifer is a competitor to be contended with. Annouced Sunday, the Treasure Secretary Henry Paulson laid out a rescue plan to keep mortgage giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae from plummeting do to the unchecked and irresponsible fiscal policies in the industry.  Both companies were placed into a conservatorship, replaced both CEO's and boards of directors (Although I believe I heard that the prior CEO's are assisting in the transition, and why would they take individuals that allowed the companies to be in their current state to assist in a transition.  Do we not remember Enron, and the consequences from poor leadership?), and developed a plan to infuse billions of dollars to stabalize the housing market.  Where do those billions come from, We the People?  Are we moving to nationalizing the housing market?  What happened to allowing... 09/09/2008

Kingwood TX August Real Estate Market Statistics | Atascocita TX August Real Estate Market Statistics | Summerwood, Eagle Springs, Fall Creek, Lakeshore Kingwood, considered as area 32 to by the Realtor community, as of August 2008 had 150 new listings at an average list price of $250,802.  In August 92 real estate single-family listings were pending with an average list price of $206,513.  For the month of August, 107 homes for sale closed at an average sold price of $208,448.  The closed price compared to list price was a very favorable 97.52% and the average days on market (DOM) was 61.
