Rough Hollow, Lakeway TX is preparing for the 2010 Parade of Homes to be held October 16 - 31. They will be featuring the distinct "Bluffs" neighborhood, showcasing seven homes built by some of Austin's finest custom home builders. Last week I attended the Realtor Preview Party.  It was great fun and gave us all an enticing taste and sneek peek of what was to come. Alta Vista - Lakeway Austin TX - Market Report showing some promising activity. Alta Vista is a little pocket of homes in a gate community off 620 in Lakeway TX. This chart shows the activity through the second quarter, and notice the low days on market as well as the small differences in asking verse selling prices. These are some home owners who know how to sell their homes! They're not only marketing right, but they're pricing right which in turn moves the inventory quicker. In real estate, traditionally, you can sell higher in the summer selling months than you can in the colder months. What you'll also notice in the above graph is that the homes that are currently active on the market are sitting on the market longer. My theory? The City of Lakeway TX had a great exhibit this weekend, the Lakeway Emergency Services and Bike Rodeo.  There were people from every branch of the different emergency services ready to give tours of their vehicles and explain everything about what they do. By far, Alyssa's favorite was the Bomb Squad Robot. They had it moving in all sorts of directions to show how versatile it was. The hands of the robot are so steady that they can grip a zipper!  The suit the Bomb Squad people wear is 85 pounds. That is heavy!  One of the people explained that the suit isn't completely explosion proof, which can be scary! The helicopter was also a hit!  She liked all the buttons. Even though I have lived here for 20 years, sometimes I feel like an infant to the area.  Yesterday I discovered a great information source for Lake Travis Austin TX called, LakeTravisTV.com.  It is an online television station created to help Lakeway residents (past, current and future) stay connected to the community. Lakeway TX History Lesson 15 years ago, I was the Director of Membership for the Hills Country Club in Lakeway TX. Alyssa had her very first Dentist appointment this morning with Dr. Eaddy in Lakeway TX. I was a little worried because I've heard lots of stories about how they are all scared and cry and the only thing that gets done is them opening up wide and that's it... Before we went, I told Alyssa that Ms. Alexis would want her to open up wide and look at her teeth. I also told her she would brush her teeth, back and forth, and up and down, and front and back, and that it would probably tickle. I told her that if it tickled, to just try to stay as still as possible and we could laugh later. Lakeway Regional Medical Center - Lakeway TX - is about to start construction again. Back in the Fall of 2008, it was announced that a new hospital was being built in Lakeway TX that would be just over 50 acres and cost roughly $250M to be completely in 2011... But around September of 2009, all of a sudden, there was no activity going on around the site. I heard many stories. One was that the site was going to increase and they needed Austin Energy to approve moving the electrical stuff.  Another was that they were trying to get a guaranteed loan from HUD to help get lower rates. Either way, it has been announced that the Lakeway Regional Medical Center is getting back on track with a current estimated completion date in 2012. Lakeway Austin TX was once a sleepy, retirement community West of Austin TX, but now it's experiencing growth and new construction, and many people call Lakeway TX home, from the old to the young. Currently, there is a house listed for $154,000 as well as one listed for $2,195,000. That's a huge range of properties, but for the most part, the area median is just about $400k. Even with the current market conditions being flat, it's not stopping people from buying and selling houses in Lakeway Austin TX.  Just in the past 30 days, there  have been 37 new listings come active on the market.  The flip side, as you can see from this below chart, is that there are 59 properties that have been on the market over 120 days, ouch! Back in August, I wrote a blog post about Flowers by Nancy, too, a local flower store in Lakeway TX.  When I moved here, to Falconhead West in Bee Cave TX, I was sent a welcome package with coupons for different things. Help save Lake Travis Kids R Kids!! I have sympathy and empathy for the people who have been laid off over the past few months and years, but you never really know how bad it is until it affects you personally. Granted, I haven't been laid off, however, many people in my immediate community have been which means many young kids have been taken out of school as families can't afford daycare, and how does that effect me??  I got a notice this morning that my daughter's daycare is closing, effective December 23.  Yes, right in the middle of the Holiday season, we're all scrambling to find new placement because enrollment has dropped considerably. Geronimo Park - Apache Shores - Lakeway TX is a quaint little park that has a lot to do.  We didn't even know this park was back here.  We were just driving around looking for more boat ramp options to launch our boat on Lake Austin or Lake Travis. This cute bridge goes over a stream to get to Geronimo Park.  It must have been built by some short people because my husband had to duck under the signs on either end, and he's barely six feet tall. You can sit by the stream that runs through it and just watch all the water bugs scurry around. The water was completely clear, which is unusual, so we could see to the bottom. My Keller Williams office is hosting a Halloween carnival at our office in Lakeway.  We will have booths with Halloween activities in the parking garage blow the building.  There will also be trick or treating in halls of the building.  Most agents with offices have done a great job decorating doors and the office looks great.  This will be a great alternative or addition to traditional Lakeway area trick or treating.  The event will be on Thursday, October 29th from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  The address is 1921 Lohman's Crossing, Lakeway, TX 78734.  We're right next to The Summit. 10/21/2009
