Lovejoy Country Run One of my buddies in the Allen Walking Group at Celebration Park told me about this event.  We are registered to participate.  Grab your tennies and come on out!  There will be something fun for the whole family, not to mention official ranking for the 5k course. The Lovejoy Country Run 5K race and 1K fun run is set for Saturday, May 14th. On-line registration is now open at www.LukesLocker.com. This is the fifth year for the event and the number of runners will reach over 1,000 this year. Proceeds are split between the 13 athletic booster clubs at LHS. Young runners have a great time running the 1K fun run on the high school track and running through the inflatable leopard head used at varsity football games. All ages compete for medals on the certified 5K course, ... 05/06/2011

Yesterday, I wrote a post about the Daddy-Daughter Valentine's Day Dance hosted by the Lovejoy ISD PTA.  Tonight, it's the other side of the coin.  Moms will be escorted to the Mom-Son Valentine's Day Dance by their handsome young sons.   I'm sure that it will be a memorable experience for the Moms, as well as the sons.  Young boys will be silly and goof off together, but there's not a one of them who will forget the time they dressed up and "did the honors" for the special Mom who means so much. Tonight is the Annual Daddy-Daughter Valentine's Day Dance in Lovejoy ISD.  The Lovejoy PTA is sponsoring the Dance at all of the Elementary Schools.   I love this concept!  It's a huge thrill for the girls to go shopping, have their hair and nails done, and get all dressed up.  The biggest advantage, by far, is the opportunity for Dads to make their daughters feel special and teach them a few life lessons along the way.  Girls need to know that being treated with respect by their date is the only way to go.  What better example than their favorite "Knight in Shining Armor" and "Hero" and "Protector" all rolled into one?  Besides, who didn't love dancing on Daddy's toes? It's also great one-on-one time with Dad without all the other siblings vying for attention.  I know several families... 02/10/2011

For those of you who may not know, we Texans take our "Friday Night Lights"-esque High School Football games pretty seriously! In fact, due to the crazy weather we are having during Super Bowl week, the Green Bay Packers were not able to work out at the SMU practice field because the private college does not have an indoor practice area.  Instead, they were taken to the Highland Park High School indoor practice facility.  Highland Park is a 5-A school with a strong Varsity football program, as well as excellent academic ratings.   Not too far North from Highland Park, Lovejoy High School is a 3-A school with state-of-the-art indoor practice facilities as well.  It's just one of the many advantages that students and athletes enjoy in this school district serving the communities of Lucas ... 02/04/2011

The City of Lucas is collecting food and unwrapped toys to be given to a number of families in the community in need of assistance.   Mark your calendar! The City of Lucas will host its annual Founder’s Day Fall Fest on Saturday, October 30, 2010. The parade will begin at 1:00pm at City Hall and end up back at City Hall at 2:00pm, where there will be FREE food, booths, activities, and games. Prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd place parade entries. There will also be prizes for best costume in each age group.
