According to the weatherman, it looks like Pearland is in for several nights of freezing temperatures this week.  Here are a few things to keep in mind to protect your home: Before the cold hits: Insulate your exposed pipes. These can be found in crawl spaces and attics. Exposed pipes are more susceptible to freezing! Seal any leaks that allow cold air inside near where pipes are located. Look for air leaks around electrical wiring, dryer vents and pipes. Use caulk or insulation to keep the cold out and the heat in. With severe cold, even a tiny opening can let in enough cold air to cause a pipe to freeze. Disconnect garden hose When the freeze comes  Let a trickle of hot and cold water run.   Pictured above is the New Pearland Recreation Center & Natatorium. This facility opened in August of 2010.  It consists of a gymnasium, weight room, activity room racquetball  courts, locker rooms and an elevated story indoor track.  It also has a kitchen and drop in play area for children. The Natatorium houses a competition pool, two 3-meter diving boards,two 2-meter diving boards and a warm-up pool.  The warm-up pool is used for water exercise classes, swimming lessions an therapeutic recreation programs.  The natatoriuml also serves both the Pearland and Dawson High School swim and water polo teams. I have been reading all the posts that I can here on AR and there are so many beautiful pictures that I am in awe of. This has inspired me to start painting again. I was good back in the day. Some of my talent comes naturally and some talent came the hard way, learning how to do it. So I have decided to take a course in Water Color at a near by Community College. I know they will have stuff for us to paint. I know this because my father-in-law took the course so many years ago.   We were all so impressed when the Pearland Oilers beat Euless Trinity 28-24 at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington to win the state championship!  The boys worked hard all year and their tenacity to win showed through! Now its time to celebrate! A time & date to honor our 2010 5 A, Division 1 State Champions,  has been scheduled for this Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 4:30 p.m. The parade will begin at the First Baptist Church parking lot located along Pearland Parkway.  It will then travel south on Pearland Parkway and conclude at the visitors parking lot of Pearland Stadium (The Rig). 2010 was a banner year for the real estate market in Pearland, TX! Despite the national recession last year, Pearland continued grow.  Between January 1, 2010 and December 31, 2010, there were 1,345 homes sold in Pearland.  That's an average of 112 homes selling each month!  It is interesting to note that these home sales seem to be spread out across the city. What is it that the home buyer really wants??? In studies I have seen, it was very clear that location/neighbourhood is the key to everything. The second most important thing is price..... Then size or how many bedrooms...But the key is pricing. Can you believe that another year has come and gone? 2010 and definitely a busy year for me both personally and professionally. I have to say, I am looking forward to 2011! While I don't make new years resolutions, I am making some big plans this year. I think "making plans" instead of resolutions is more feasible... at least for me! The question I get most often being a real estate agent is; How is the market? And is now the best time to sell my house?Well, the answer is 2 fold. I will go into detail and show you what the market is doing and why now might be just the right time to sell your house and buy another.   The world champion Pearland Oilers Football team has it’s victory parade time set.  The Pearland Oilers will be honored with a parade on Jan. 8, 2011 starting at approximately 4:30PM. The Oilers will start the victory parade at FM 518 and Pearland Parkway and head towards the football stadium, “The Rig”. Then at 5:30 PM they will have a pep rally and the public is invited. The football team is the latest Pearland team to win a state title. The Lady Oilers softball team also won state and the Pearland Little League finished second in the nation.
