It seems premature to type this on only January 14 of the new year, but the DFW real estate market is already hopping and it's only 2 weeks in to 2009.  I guess it could be that it's that time of the year and people are anxious for a change but more likely it is the unbelievable drop in interest rates!  The rates are lower than they have ever been in my lifetime, which may not seem like very long to some but to me is quickly approaching 36 years... that's a long time to wait for rates below 5%!  Buyers are coming out of the cold to see my listings and people are trading up in to larger, more upgraded homes with the same monthly payment.  Compared to much of the country, Texas is in much better shape when it comes to it's real estate market.  Compared to the rest of the state of Texas, C...

The endangered no money down home loan has been discovered in the suburbs of America. It seems that the media wants everyone to focus on the negative when some of the greatest homes buying programs are still available.  Also not only does the 100% financing is available there are many bond and rebate programs which also can equal no money down home loans. But wait there's more the lowest interest rates in decades. So what are you waiting for the media to tell you it's ok to own a home?

On Your Mark... The first order of business should include finding a qualified, reputable Plano Real Estate Agent. The best way to find a good real estate agent is to ask friends, family members and neighbors for referrals. Next, you'll need to narrow down your neighborhood choices, price, type of home and features, and define your goals. Using the Internet is an easy way to learn about different communities in any given area. A good real estate agent will listen to your needs and wants and only show homes which meet your criteria. He or she will also preview the homes before showing them to you to further eliminate the need to visit homes which are not in line with your objectives and goals. Get Set... Now that you've narrowed down your choices regarding price, location, type of home a...

Today I did my thrift store roundup to shop for some inventory for my home staging prop library and hit my local Salvation Army, Goodwill and Habitat ReStore.  Some great deals were to be found! At my Habitat ReStore stop in South Collin County I found a great deal on new plastic storage bins for what else, storing inventory! Problem was, they were in a tight space and stacked about 4 feet high and I only needed 6. As I was thinking about how to get them one of the staff was walking towards me, a young woman, and I started to tell her the situation - "I'd like 6 of these but I can't get them easily." As I was speaking with her in the hallway, out of the room I had just been in pops a young man with a mohawk and some piercings.  I didn't even see him while I was in the little room with t...

Yes, it's a no brainer - my company's, Home Star Staging, success supports not only Collin County's economy but every area I do business in and that includes Dallas, parts of Denton and sometimes Tarrant counties as well. As I go through the always fun task of getting my year end receipts together I was looking at the businesses I frequent for goods and services in my day to day life as a home staging professional in North Texas. These businesses depend on me and you to patronize them in order for them to stay in business too. And if I'm a viable business I can afford to help keep their doors open too. Below are some of most the frequently visited businesses I've supported specifically in Collin County this past year, including: Where the business is located How many times I purchased s...

When considering buying a new home many people get caught up in the media. When buying a new home you should only consider if the home is right for you and your family. This means is the home large enough and doe sit have the features you want. After that consider if you can afford it and do you like the neighborhood. If you don't allow the media to scare you into decision you should make the right one.

Hello all you awesome real estate-minded folks!  Just wanted to share an awesome story from last month's closings.  With all the negative poop (that's a technical term) out there about our industry, maybe it will helpful to remember what we do, and why.  Case in point:  I had a lovely empty-nester couple wanting to buy their retirement home, and really fix it up well.  One is a retired pastor, the other finishing up their career in the next few years.  They know it's a great time to pick up a bargain, and they did - a foreclosure in north Plano with a nice amount of equity.  They were so thrilled, BUT they didn't want to pay for all the repairs after the down payment - after all, retirement is looming for this couple.  They had approached their bank, but the rates and fees to pull that ...
