73rd Deep Sea Roundup is Success Depsite Rain   The largest saltwater tournament on the Texas Gulf Coast was held July 3-6.  It is a fundraiser for scholarships, youth and community activities.  The Port Aransas Boatmen, Inc. sponsors the annual event.    757 entries were filed for the offshore event down from the all time high last year of 807.  In addition, the Piggy Perch Contest for the 12 and under group had the largest showing ever,  with over 300 entrants.  Some grandchildren were cheered on by grandparents who had fished in the tourney as youngsters.   07/10/2008

Voting was the topic of the day at the Beach Lodge.  Hillary, Obama, McCain????  Who would take the party nomination?  It all seemed so important until one walked through the door to the Beach Lodge.  After a few comments one direction or the other, folks seemed to just relax, enjoy the view and drop politics from the conversation.  Once seated, one could see for miles out to sea today.  Unlike last night when the wind was howling and the sand was blowing, today, primary day the weather has been great.  Take a break to visit the Texas Gulf Coast sometime soon! 03/04/2008

The weather is perfect today for sailing today!  It is so exciting to the see the Elyssa up close.  Her rigging was perfect and sales were furled but looked very clean and new.  She is well cared for and sailed by a group of volunteers from Galveston.  They sailed her down to Port Aransas for the weekend and then on to Corpus Christi for a week.She is the official "Tall Ship of Texas" and wonderful to see up close.  You can see her berthed at the Texas Seaport Museum, Pier 21, Galveston,TX most of the year. www.buyporta.com   10/28/2007

Tomorrow will be a beautiful day on the Jetties to watch over 250 sailing vessels arrive in Port Aransas for the completion of the Harvest Moon Regatta.  The flotilla departed from Galveston today and will sail through the night under the bright full Harvest Moon.  The estimated time of arrival is between 3pm and 4pm which could vary depending on conditions.  Come on out to the South Jetty.  Bring a chair and a camera. 10/25/2007

With the cold front that blew through Port Aransas on Monday, it is good to see the beaches clear, clean and ready for the annual return of a migratory bird known as the "Winter Texans"!  They are not really birds though they do tend to travel in flocks.  They meander their way to Port Aransas from points north of the border... Texas-Oklahoma border that is..  They rent condos, houses, motel rooms and stay in RV parks too.  They come for one up to six months and some decide to never leave.  They are retirees from the colder climates and they love Port Aransas, Texas.  Some have tried Florida, Arizona and New Mexico for the winter, but most found the magic in here in Port Aransas!Welcome Back!http://BuyPortA.com 10/24/2007
