  Dedication of Booster Truck at Riverside VFD     A great crowd showed up at the Riverside Volunteer Fire Department for the dedication of the new booster truck to Frederick Weinzierl, aka "Fritz."   Attendees were served chili dogs with all the trimmings, chips, and sweet tea  by our awesome Junior Fire fighters! We visited with friends and neighbors while we waited for the program to begin.       Riverside VFD President, Dick Goldin opened with a few words, followed by Pct. 3 County Commissioner, Bobby Warren, and County Judge Danny Pierce.           While our elected officials were talking, "arsonists" lit the 80 candles on the birthday cake for Fritz.   Riverside VFD Dedicates New Fire Truck and Invites YOU to Attend!     In March, I reported that the Riverside Volunteer Fire Department was going to get a new Booster Truck.     The sky was GORGEOUS tonight as I drove home from Trinity. It was so pretty that I took the old Trinity River Bridge, put on my emergency flashers, and stopped smack dab in the middle of the bridge to shoot this picture.    The old bridge is now a memorial bridge. You have to GO to it to cross it, and it is only accessible to south bound traffic. Rarely do you see a vehicle on the old bridge.    When I first moved my parents to Riverside back in 2007, my mother used to ask me to drive across the bridge at least once a week. She wanted the bridge to still be used. I guess I am still accommodating her, even though she hasn't thought to ask in a long, LONG time. :) That's okay.       VBS has hit Riverside, Texas and it is ALL about Jesus! Children entering 1st through 6th grade are participating in bible study, crafts, music, recreation, snacks,  and finishing up with a little  ROCKIN' at the Worship Rally!    We had 25 boys and 17 girls on Monday night, and 3 salvations!  Traditionally the first night of VBS is the lowest night attended and it just grows from there!   Just in case you didn't know, VBS isn't just for children! Our adults are always amazed at how God takes something like VBS that is meant for the children and then uses it to touch the lives and hearts of His children of ALL ages!    So we love VBS!!   Carolina Creek Christian Camp Open House   Carolina Creek is opening up their facilities to the public for a FREE open house on Saturday, May 25, 2013 from 10 AM to 4 PM.   Lakeside Village Market Report for April 2013   Writing a market report on small, rural developments can be challenging. Small communities offer less sales data to report. Such is the case with Lakeside Village which is located 8 miles from Riverside, Texas, population 507. But sales data, I do have!   I checked MLS data today, and so far this year, there have been no sales in Lakeside Village. There are currently 7 Active listings ranging from $47,900 to $269,500. The average listing price is $118,329 resulting in $67.93 per square foot with 180 days on market. The cumulative days on market is 330 days which means that at least one of these 7 homes have been listed more  than once.   Riverside Volunteer Fire Department Gets New Booster Truck       Fritz Weinzierl of Riverside, Texas decided that he wanted a new truck for his birthday. Not just any truck... but a BOOSTER Truck. And not for him... but for the Volunteer Fire Department of which he is a founding member, a Life Member, and a Honorary Chief.   Weinzierl's generous donation covered all but $20,000. I love where I live!   A friend of mine commented on one of my blog posts about Riverside saying, "Riverside sounds like Mayberry RFD."    I laughed when I read it -- but later on I thought, you know, he's right!       Riverside, Texas is like stepping back in time. Around here people still talk to strangers... We know our neighbors...     As a matter of fact, your neighbors will call your cell phone if your sweet mother decides to take a little walk and locks herself out of the house before you get there.
