Looking for something to do this weekend to celebrate Memorial Day? I've put together a short list of great ways to celebrate the beginning of summer, including visiting my open house this Saturday. Visit Morgan's Wonderland. The world's first fully accessible fun park. Developed by Gordon Harman and inspired by his daughter, Morgan, the park is a 25-acre park designed with the needs of children and adults with special needs. Featuring a carousel, a gorgeous lake, a miniature train, play areas and more, the Morgan's Wonderland is an interactive playscape open to all. Take a trip to SeaWorld. One of my favorite attractions in San Antonio, I try to visit the park at least a couple times each year and take my nephew whenever he visits. Don't miss Shamu or the dolphins! Memorial Day holds special meaning for me today, as I continue to mourn the loss of my beloved father just a couple of months ago. It seems like yesterday that we were playing in the park as a kid, or he was standing by me as I graduated from LSU. He was always my best friend and simply proud of me, but that day was especially happy for him, as I took the stage to collect my BFA from the COA+D. See, my father had attended LSU after being discharged from the Marines after being wounded and honored with several medals including the purple heart whil serving in Viet Nam. He was a HUGE LSU fan, football, basketball & baseball, and had taught me to love them as well. While other kids dreamed of going to Harvard or Yale, I dreamed of going to my father's alma mater and making him proud of me.... 05/23/2013
