January 2019 started the year off strong for home sales in San Antonio, Texas, with a two percent increase year-over-year in total  home sales, for a total of 1,788 homes being sold according to our MLS from the San Antonio Board of REALTORS®(SABOR). The average home prices also saw a two percent increase from last year to $249,477 while the median price rose three percent to $217,200. Inventory of homes were still at an all time low of 3.4, though it was slightly higher than December 2018's 3.2 months of inventory. The American Dream of Homeownership is being delayed by many millennials according to the latest 2018 Report on Millennials from Apartment List. The majority are not prepared to purchase a home this year, and will remain renters until they are qualified to move forward. 89.4% of millennial renters say that they plan to purchase a home at some point in the future, but just 4.4% expect to do so within the next year, while 30.4% percent say that they won’t buy for at least five years.
