Saturday December 6th there was a Christmas Parade in The Colony, TX.  I personally could not attend but I heard it was the best one yet.  A lot effort goes into these events and the community involvement is treasured. I am happy to announce the 'Friends of The Colony Dog Park' float won first place in the 'most creative' category.  We were not able to procure a trailer so we used what we had.  (We are a non-profit organization).  The message came across loud and clear, however.  Four large dogs were in the back and 'How much is that doggie in the window' blared out of the speakers. Pirate Days in The Colony, TX.  2008 was a huge success.  The festive atmosphere included- Music from local bands, food with flair, many vendors, sword fights, and Pirates from 'far, far away'.  I was there to participate in the fundraiser for the Friends of The Colony Dog Park (non-profit organization). I was very surprised, shocked even, to find out a good friend of mine has never voted in a Presidential election.  We have argued our political views for years yet she has never taken the time to vote.  I feel jilted and 'put on'.  She has been complaining all this time about Bush yet she didn't 'not' vote against him? Quite the topic on the home improvement forums these days. Will replacing your old tank water heater with a new tankless water heater lower your utility bills? In short, yes, but there's a lot more to the story! A tankless water heater heats water as it's being used while a tank water heater heats water before it's needed. Simple physics dictates that it takes the same number of BTUs to heat water from 80 degrees to 120 degrees whether it's in a tank or on the way to your shower so a tankless water heater doesn't use any less energy to heat water than a tank unit. The savings happens between times of hot water usage when a tank unit continues to use energy to keep the water hot and ready while a tankless does not. I attended my daughter's last choir concert at Lakeview Middle School yesterday.  It was called "Lakeview Live!  A Showcase of Broadway Musicals."  It was a bitter sweet occasion for me because my youngest child is going to high school next year and it is likely the last time I will be inside Lakeview Middle School.  It marks a new era in my daughter's life and mine. When Lakeview changed music directors I had concerns.  My older daughter was taught by Ms. Fannin.  She learned more in choir in three years than I did in my sixteen years of choir practice.  The new director, Mr. Moses, had big shoes to fill.  He met the challenge!  I was overwhelmed with the amount of emotion and talent I witnessed last night.  I am glad my daughter got an opportunity to be in his class.
