Wylie East and Wylie High JR ROTC presented their 13th annual tribute to Veterans today in Wylie High Stadium. It was a joy to honor the attending Veterans and those in the making. Pictured is my grandson, Jeremy aka JJ, sophomore at Wylie East and carrying the flag. The Master of Ceremonies stated today that there remains living about 3 million Veterans of World I & II while mentioning that 20 million served. Today we have about 25 million Veterans living from all wars since World I. Each group of Veterans was honored for the war they served as well as the branch of military service they represented. The Wylie East Raiders host the McKinney High Lions Friday, October 28 in Wylie Stadium. Game time is at 7:30 p.m. The Raiders will also hold homecoming festivities during halftime including the coronation of its 2011 class royalty. November is Wylie Texas Christian Care Center Month and you know what that means? It’s time for the Annual Wylie ISD Food Drive benefitting the center. October 31 through November 15 students throughout the district will be bringing food items to school to donate to the drive. Items will then be collected from the campuses on Wednesday and Thursday, November 16 and 17 and delivered to the center’s new warehouse. Items needed include canned meats, vegetables, fruits, soups, boxed pasta dinners, tomato products, cereal, peanut butter and jelly, cake mixes, Jello and pudding mixes, canned juices, powdered or canned milk, bread mixes and toiletry items.   This is a really great way to give ! Wylie East High School will take over Downtown Wylie TX on Monday 10/24/11 as they Go Wild with their jungle-themed homecoming parade.   The funny thing is – there’s not anyone to actually come to “homecoming” as the Class of 2012 is the first-ever graduating class of this newly built high school.  Not having any students to come home to Homecoming isn’t stopping them though!  The weeklong “jungle boogie” starts Monday, October 24th with the Raider Roundup Community Parade & Pep Rally in Downtown Wylie.  The WEHS Scholarship Committee Carnival will be in Olde City Park at 6:30pm that evening.  Spirit Days will be held throughout the week for Wylie East students.
