Providing further evidence that unscrupulous people come from all walks of life: a New York judge ruled yesterday that Donny Deutsch, from ‘The Big Idea’ on CNBC, scammed his Realtor out of a commission worth approximately $1.2 million. Ouch! According to online reports, Justice Charles Raymos noted that Donny Deutsch had the scruples of Gordon Gekko – "Greed, for lack of a better word, is good." ~ Gordon Gekko. While Donnie and Gordon might concur that Greed is Good, the judge wholeheartedly disagreed. Differing with the "Greed is Good" notion, the judge ordered that Deutsche pay his broker's commission to Sotheby’s … totaling $1.2 million.   Thank goodness for swift justice.

The Bucket List. Far from being just a movie, it's a term we often referrer to late in life … and what goes in that Bucket tends to vary for each individual. For musicians, it may be a trip to the rock 'n roll Hall of Fame, to see firsthand their idols from days gone past; for surfers, it might be catching that perfect monster wave off the foggy California coast; for ex-surfers – such as myself – a peaceful round of golf on a serene course in the birthplace of the sport – Ireland and Scotland – sounds like a great idea. While I was born and raised on the Monterey Peninsula, the home of Pebble Beach, Spy Glass, Monterey Peninsula Country Club and a host of other great golf courses. It was also the home of some world-class waves. Carmel Point, Ghost Tree, Mole Point, Asilomar Beach, Bone ...

Thriller at Tuacahn in St George Utah| October 24-November 1, 2014 "THRILLER" at Tuacahn amphitheatre near St George Utah is quickly becoming a Halloween tradition for many southern Utah residents and visitors alike. It's a great way to usher in the Halloween season and get in the mood for ghosts and ghouls! Odyssey Dance Theatre puts on a spooky spectacular of dance, music and singing as it pays homage to the stars of All Hallow's Eve. The two hour program includes haunting music, mystical dancing and eye popping special effects. There's a number performed by Frankenstein and his bride, mummies a plenty and lots of silly antics too. My family's favorite performance is that of the dancing skeletons, all done in the dark with black light effects. You'll also get to see "Bubbles the Clown"...

Best Cheapest Cities to Live When it comes to cheap cities, less is not always best. Many times, cities that have low cost living also suffer from poverty, high unemployment and lack of services. However, not all low cost cities are that bad. Therefore, I have found a list of low cost cities to live that are economically healthy and safe. In that list, St. George UT was near the top. The community was chosen based on low-cost living, low-cost things to do and tons of activities. Why St. George Was Chosen as a Best Cheap City to Live You get the great outdoors for less when you live in St. George UT. Located in the southwest portion of Utah, St. George sits by the Virgin River, which offers tons of outdoor play. There are many state parks and conservation areas close by including Zion N...

Southern Utah Business Spotlight: Partyland on Sunset Boulevard A very special person is expecting her first child and I was looking to do something different for her Baby Shower. I bought an infant bathtub and filled it some cutie-patootie clothes and other items and set off for Partyland on Sunset Boulevard in St. George, Utah. They have EVERYTHING you can imagine for every occasion! I have used them often for several events in the past and will continue to do so in the future. I also want to give a shout-out for Koryn Hurd and Micah Skougard at the Partyland St. George store. They were both so very helpful when I came in for the finishing touches on a special It's-a-Girl basket I made. It turned out beautiful and the mom-to-be was ecstatic! Have always found what I needed for those ...

Fall into Southern Utah! While many areas in the country are preparing for colder temperatures, southern Utah maintains at least high 70s to mid 80 degrees during the day with cooler, crisp mornings. The Huntsman World Senior Games are in full swing and the area offers an optimum setting for outdoor activities of all kinds. The colors of the season are also still vibrantly alive. Perhaps this is why southern Utah is The Place to Be!

Buying St. George UT – Why You Should If you are still on the fence about buying real estate in St. George, UT I have some information on why you should not be on the fence any longer. Lately, the housing market is headed west according to a new report from Clear Capital. The west is where some of the biggest metro markets in the nation call home. When the housing markets in the west began to rebound a few years ago, other markets around the nation were soon to follow. Recently, the west has seen a drastic decrease in distressed sales as fewer homes fall into foreclosure. That’s big news since the west was the first to be hit by the housing crisis. Therefore, investors have been spreading out and buying more real estate for bargains in the west while they still can. Recent studies show...
