Nerdin Gardens: Dressed in Yellow         Miss Consuelo dressed in Yellow, Went to kiss a fine dressed Fellow. Mistakenly thinking it was the Prince, She clearly lacked any common Sense.   Because she also kissed a Snake, He pierced her skin when on a Date. To save her, how many doctors did it Take?   One...   Two…   Three…   Four…   Five…   Zero chances to survive, she never came Awake.   Moral of the Story: Be careful where you put your tulips, it may be life changing or ending!   The End.   ~ Wanda Kubat-Nerdin in Nerdin Gardens     Looking for a top producing agent to help buy or sell property in southern Utah? Nerdin Gardens: Throwing Shade Stunts Growth We've all met clients who, at first, seemed impossible to please. Either they were uncomfortable with divulging their finances or lacked the ability to commit to being resolute.  They simply needed guided help towards making an informed decision by educating them about the process. Terms, conditions, negotiating and timelines can get tedious.  Coming from a very large family, I have experienced a similar phenomenon of people remaining in place, rather than using reflection as a means to direct their lives. Instead of moving forward toward achieving goals, they become complacent, zero motivation to implement changes in their lives. Blaming others becomes a reflex. At least, we can make a happily ever after most of the time for clients, once th...

Nerdin Gardens: A Lot to Be Thankful For  Giva and Luva Lot, a married couple, resided in a densely populated township, enjoying the surrounding flora that the countryside provided. One fine Spring day, twins girls were born unto them, they would be called Cara Lot and Mona Lot. As the years passed, their diverse personalities emerged.      Cara was a joyous soul, who gave freely of herself when there was a need to be filled. Whether feeding the hungry, tending to the sick and disadvantaged or lending a hand with household chores, her thoughtfulness was revered far and wide. People were drawn instantly to Cara's inner, tender spirit.  Mona had a razor-sharp tongue, consistently finding fault in everything and all. She complained that the sheets were scratchy, her dress too plain, the fo...

Nerdin Gardens: Haughty Hyacinth Born into the close-knit Hyacinth flora clan, Haughty quite often dreamt of setting off into the next township to make a name for herself. She resentfully remained in place. The family lived in close proximity, looked alike, behaved similarly. She became angry to be associated with such a cluster, frequently jeering, pointing her leaves and making fun.  One day, a Hollyhock stalk was within easy reach. This became her opportunity to become an independent, singular being! Haughty grabbed ahold and began pulling, so hard in fact, that her stem snapped in half! Quickly, she began to diminish.  All dreams were dashed when Haughty’s life cycle ended. She should’ve been satisfied with a long, beautiful life but instead, chose to be headstrong and unsettled. Mo...

Nerdin Gardens 2021: Going Green!  Spring will soon present another growing season in the backyard garden. With our senses on high alert, the planning stages for many rows of potential plantings begins. Every year, we are rewarded with the results of continuous methods and care. Taking photos creates a visual history as the greenery begins to grow, bud, flower and bear.  For us, chemical-free practices are the choice. We plant Marigolds and Chrysanthemums, allowing Praying Mantis and Lady Bugs to take care of other unwanted pests. We welcome all creatures with good intentions, who wish to inhabit this tranquil space by creating a harmonious living standard for all. It has worked for us 20+ years. Many evenings from spring thru fall, we can be found in the backyard garden, watering, fert...

Family Pets Matter.  Am sitting here at 5:00 in the morning, trying to put together a testimony to adequately honor our Ashley Cat. She passed away some time during the night.Words are not coming forth as fast as the emotion and tears. The memories are many and span 20+ years. She was very much an integral part of our family. Our two sons grew up with her. Spensyr would put her around his neck and she’d stay as long as he wanted.  She walked Sebastian to the bus stop, almost a 1/4 mile, waited until he got on the bus and then walked back home. Ashley was content to sit on my lap in the home office, purring away, as I scratched between her ears occasionally. Her wants and needs were simple: To be fed, sheltered, given a little attention. What she gave us in return was devotion, loyalty an...

Thankfully, 2020 is so day before yesterday! Time continues to march on despite any/all efforts to slow it. 2020 may be an exception for most. When recalling last year, numerous thoughts come to mind, so will put a positive spin on some situations. Business ground to a halt with the announced shut down of the country. Being a get up and go type personality, it was difficult for me to stay home, abruptly changing directions.I decided to go with it and... - I slowly learned to be still, to appreciate simple things again.  - I pulled weeds while watching butterflies flitting about the garden.  - I listened to the birds happily relaying songs to feathered friends. Though tested more than once through the year, my heart felt the for adverse life events that many people were facing. I am bles...

A Jingled Jangled Dangled Christmas!  While sheltering in place at the North Pole, Santa's reindeer became extremely restless. Suddenly, their life desires went beyond just playing reindeer games or guiding the sleigh on Christmas Eve.   Each reindeer left, forging a different path:Dasher - was hired on as a Shopping Cart Wrangler at the mall because he was ultra-light on his hooves. Dancer - took a job at the local Gentledeer's Club, specializing in pole dancing, twirling and swirling, with bells on. Prancer - dreamed of being a Barista at Starbuck's. He sure liked his skinny, frothy, vanilla, caramel, frappe latte's! Vixen - became an Administrator Communications Mediator, setting up satellite zoom meetings for celebrities.  Comet - always a late sleeper, pursued the career of a Cosmi...

Nerdin Gardens: Productively Praying  Her belly swollen with Praying Mantis eggs, this female is content to wait long periods on the underside of Hibiscus leaves for approaching food. Flying insects are attracted to this sweet, aromatic blooming plant. Soon she will find a location to create an ootheca, a hard, protective shell pod that houses the eggs. It is permanently attached to a stationary place, such as a branch, post or fence until spring arrives. An adult female will lay 100 to 400 eggs that will hatch, releasing the nymphs, ready to hunt other small invertebrates once temperatures are conducive, ensuring another generation of master hunters. Carry on momma, I wish you well and am so looking forward to meeting your little ones next year in Nerdin Gardens! .........................

Nerdin Gardens: Hang In There!  My husband creates these beautiful hanging baskets that are sporadically placed around the yard to create a pop of color in places that need it most. They remind me of a loved ones words. I remember back when my little sister had small cell carcinoma, a fast growing cancer that ravaged her physical body but had yet to destroy that beautiful, positive mind. I'd call and ask how she was feeling and the response most days was, "Oh, I'm hanging in there." It was an open, honest conversation, intentionally sincere, not just filler for chatting's sake. She didn't want to burden anyone with a litany of complaints, instead remaining ever upbeat, hopeful. In my heart, I prayed every day that she would 'hang in there' and beat that horrendous disease. During her la...

Nerdin Gardens: Busy bees better be.  Awesome blossoms have come alive again in the St. George, Utah area! Just as I was admiring these vibrant orange Marigolds, a bumble bee came floating by, touching down ever so lightly. Cooler, fall evenings create a sense of urgency for nature's creatures as they intently forage during the day. Soon, they will have a large cache of stored food for the winter months at the nest. Inspiration is everywhere when we pay attention to our surroundings. Nerdin Gardens: 50 Shades of Greenery This is a re-do of a past post. Now that the growing season is at an end, I am reminiscing the ways a garden affects the senses. Hope you enjoy it the second time around as much as I did writing it!    At the moment the titillating is initiated...er, I mean, the tilling starts, a new growing season begins. Nature bestows harmonious growth with lush endowments of plant life.  Sensory stimulation sets about the sight-line, reaching out to tender buds unto plant maturation, in-taking, interpreting integrated and independent sensory stimuli simultaneously. Home gardening ignites the senses through:   Touch:  Dark, fertile loam held in ones grasp, gently massaged through to the the fingertips, eager to accept sowed seeds, anticipating growth.    Smell: I...

Nerdin Gardens: Making Agro Great Again  Home gardening has been making a strong comeback across the country. People want to experience results, often enjoying fresh fruits and vegetables more-so, when their efforts produce them. From seed to sprout to maturity to table, the growing excitement is palpable on a daily basis! Trial and error plays an important role as well. Location of plant material can make or break the cycle. Adapting and adjusting serves a gardener well, as well as self-education. Reading, learning and implementing from reliable sources can create successful outcomes more often than not. Patio gardening is an option for those who lack an expansive, in-ground scenario. We have been successful with planting lemon, lime, grapefruit and kumquat trees in large clay pots. In...
