Nerdin Gardens: A Lot to Be Thankful For  Giva and Luva Lot, a married couple, resided in a densely populated township, enjoying the surrounding flora that the countryside provided. One fine Spring day, twins girls were born unto them, they would be called Cara Lot and Mona Lot. As the years passed, their diverse personalities emerged.      Cara was a joyous soul, who gave freely of herself when there was a need to be filled. Whether feeding the hungry, tending to the sick and disadvantaged or lending a hand with household chores, her thoughtfulness was revered far and wide. Nerdin Gardens: Haughty Hyacinth Born into the close-knit Hyacinth flora clan, Haughty quite often dreamt of setting off into the next township to make a name for herself. She resentfully remained in place. The family lived in close proximity, looked alike, behaved similarly. She became angry to be associated with such a cluster, frequently jeering, pointing her leaves and making fun.  One day, a Hollyhock stalk was within easy reach. This became her opportunity to become an independent, singular being! Haughty grabbed ahold and began pulling, so hard in fact, that her stem snapped in half! Quickly, she began to diminish.  All dreams were dashed when Haughty’s life cycle ended. Nerdin Gardens 2021: Going Green!  Spring will soon present another growing season in the backyard garden. With our senses on high alert, the planning stages for many rows of potential plantings begins. Every year, we are rewarded with the results of continuous methods and care. Taking photos creates a visual history as the greenery begins to grow, bud, flower and bear.  For us, chemical-free practices are the choice. Family Pets Matter.  Am sitting here at 5:00 in the morning, trying to put together a testimony to adequately honor our Ashley Cat. She passed away some time during the night.Words are not coming forth as fast as the emotion and tears. The memories are many and span 20+ years. She was very much an integral part of our family. Our two sons grew up with her. Thankfully, 2020 is so day before yesterday! Time continues to march on despite any/all efforts to slow it. 2020 may be an exception for most. When recalling last year, numerous thoughts come to mind, so will put a positive spin on some situations. Business ground to a halt with the announced shut down of the country. A Jingled Jangled Dangled Christmas!  While sheltering in place at the North Pole, Santa's reindeer became extremely restless. Suddenly, their life desires went beyond just playing reindeer games or guiding the sleigh on Christmas Eve.   Each reindeer left, forging a different path:Dasher - was hired on as a Shopping Cart Wrangler at the mall because he was ultra-light on his hooves. Dancer - took a job at the local Gentledeer's Club, specializing in pole dancing, twirling and swirling, with bells on. Prancer - dreamed of being a Barista at Starbuck's. Nerdin Gardens: Productively Praying  Her belly swollen with Praying Mantis eggs, this female is content to wait long periods on the underside of Hibiscus leaves for approaching food. Flying insects are attracted to this sweet, aromatic blooming plant. Soon she will find a location to create an ootheca, a hard, protective shell pod that houses the eggs. It is permanently attached to a stationary place, such as a branch, post or fence until spring arrives. An adult female will lay 100 to 400 eggs that will hatch, releasing the nymphs, ready to hunt other small invertebrates once temperatures are conducive, ensuring another generation of master hunters. Carry on momma, I wish you well and am so looking forward to meeting your little ones next year in Nerdin Gardens! ......................... 10/15/2020

Nerdin Gardens: Hang In There!  My husband creates these beautiful hanging baskets that are sporadically placed around the yard to create a pop of color in places that need it most. They remind me of a loved ones words. I remember back when my little sister had small cell carcinoma, a fast growing cancer that ravaged her physical body but had yet to destroy that beautiful, positive mind. I'd call and ask how she was feeling and the response most days was, "Oh, I'm hanging in there." It was an open, honest conversation, intentionally sincere, not just filler for chatting's sake. She didn't want to burden anyone with a litany of complaints, instead remaining ever upbeat, hopeful. In my heart, I prayed every day that she would 'hang in there' and beat that horrendous disease.
