On recent trips to the South Riding subdivision in Chantilly VA I noticed in the last few months that sales activity and home construction have picked up quite a bit.  It is my understanding that a few months ago there were very few homes in South Riding being sold and then all of a sudden there are well over 25 new contracts for single family detached new homes.  That is quite a feat, and very promising.  Interest rates are absolutely incredible, so the carrying costs to own a new home in South Riding is a lot less than it was just a short while ago.  Also, many home buyers want the safety of established swim tennis and golf neighborhoods.  There is a lot less risk buying in a subdivision like South Riding that is already well established.  Within the subdivision there are schools, res...

If taking advanage of the First-time Tax Credit Program is part of your plan, please know that the clock is ticking down.   If you plan on taking advantage of its generous tax credit, remember that the program expires November 30, 2009.  Also, be aware that the time you'll need to close on a transaction can be up to 60 days.
