Then perhaps you should check out the 17,000 acre forest hidden away in Prince William County.  One of the least visited national forests on the east coast Prince William Forest Park is located about 35 miles south of DC off of I-95.  Prince William Forest Park is maanged by the National Park Service.The park was created by FDR as a recreational area for disadvantaged city kids.  During WWI the park was used by the Office of Strategic Services for training.  Most people do not realize that the park has cabins available for rent that can sleep 6-10  people.  The cabins must be reserved but the rates are CHEAP!  They aren't the Ritz but if your goal is to hike through the park and not sleep on the ground then this is the way to go.  Prince William Forest Park has the largest inventory of ... 10/17/2007

Most people think Old Town Alexandria is Virginia's oldest charted town but they would be wrong.  As you drive down Route 1 between Woodbridge and Quantico you pass through an area known as Dumfries.  For many local folks it is an unforgettable area that often is referred to as "dumb-fries".  However chartered one day before Old Town on May 11, 1749, Dumfries was a thriving cultural and commerce center in its time.  Founded by Scottish merchants, the town had large tobacco warehouses and was the second largest port in the colonies only surpassed by Boston.  Dumfries was also known as a cultural center with theaters, race tracks and artisans.   A New Catholic High School to Open Fall 2008 in Dumfries Prince William County, Virginia A new figure has graced many of the area’s Catholic parishes and, in particular, the parochial schools.  She is dressed in full habit, a garment as traditional as a priest’s white collar, and commanding attention and respect.
