I leave the Virginia area tomorrow to go back the the fabulous and WARMER Florida Keys. Where we are staying is very centrally located to the Reston town center and the World Gate shopping area. We found the World Gate looking for a Starbucks this morning and wandered around to see where we could have lunch. The name World Gate is understandable. They had Chinese, Turkish, Vietnamese, Mexican and Indian Food, or TGI Fridays   I nixed the Friday's choice and any other chain for that matter and anywhere that sold burgers.   I wanted to try some type of food I have never eaten before. I am visiting Virginia to meet our new Grandson. He lives in Huntington Beach, Ca. but is spending a couple of weeks on the east coast to see the entire family. Last night, Shane was visiting with is Mom's Mom and today is our day. Spending a Saturday night at a Courtyard in Herdon, Va. right near Reston. The room is clean, good sized, free WiFi and we are paying $59.00 per night. We wanted to have dinner nearby. We asked the front desk for suggestions. Hubby is a steak and a salad guy. There was a Morton's, but we didn't feel like dropping $200. plus  for dinner. They recommended two restaurants in the town center, about a 5 minute drive. Continued low interest rates and low unemployment in Northern VA have kept properties selling, even though we are approaching the holiday season. Government, military and High Tech relocations has kept our area moving when much of the country's real estate market has languished. Here is the latest data for Fairfax county in graphic format.   As you can see single family home prices have risen 10% from October 2009 data with town houses showing a 3% gain.
