The story of Greenwich Presbyterian in Nokesville began with the birth of Aminta Elizabeth Douglass who was born April 1, 1777 in Maryland.In April, 1802 she married Gilbert Irland Moxley and moved to Greenwich, VA. Shortly after her arrival she began holding religious services in her home. They were so popular a small log building was built to serve as a place of worship. Records indicate that an 1810 meeting was the basis for the founding of Greenwich Presbyterian Church. By 1812 it was necessary to replace the original log cabin with a larger one.As both the congregation and area grew it became necessary to build a larger church. Since we are always looking for a new local park to explore today we decided to check out Merrimac Wildlife Farm in Nokesville VA.  We weren't disappointed in what we found.  It was quiet enough that we even managed to hear a snake rustling in the underbrush.  Just a grumpy runner snake who waited patiently for us to snap a few pictures.While making our way towards the river we found an old cemetery with a few headstones from the mid-1800's.  Then we found what thousands are crowding local parks to find.   Blue bells running throughout the forest and down to the banks of Cedar Run.  The big surprise was to discover we were the only ones in the park.  Talk about lucky.  This beautiful display was all ours to enjoy.  Since the blue bells only bloom for a few weeks this may be gone by next... 04/20/2014
