If you have read many of my posts, you know that I grew up, and now live, in Reston, Virginia.  Back when my parents moved here, it was already known for being a planned community.  Truth be told, I think most families were drawn here by the affordability, small town feel and public transportation. Fast forward to today.  The draw for Reston remains the same.  Perhaps the use of public transportation does not lure as many folks, but there are still a lot of people who work predictable hours for the government and are able to take advantage of the bus/metro combination offered here. Of course, we are anticipating our own Metro station in the next 3 years and that will bring public transportation back to the short list of why Reston is so attractive to buyers. We've all been watching for an indication that the market has begun to turn and now there seems to be some hard data on home prices for Single Family Homes in Reston's North Reston Zip 20194.  Over the course of 2008, and the 1st four months of 2009, the average closed prices for North Reston Single Family Homes dropped from $812k to $662k and the average list prices for the same homes dropped from $854k to $696k ... Now, looking at the Average List Price for the 19 North Reston Single Family Homes currently under contract we see a reversal to an average list price of $907k for homes under contract.  As they say in the Mazda ad ... Somthings Up!
