Radon Gas!  Very Dangerous and Underrated!  Please Call Your Local Radon Expert and Learn More About It.  Just Look At The Name, RADon-RADiation. I went to meet a radon specialist at a home that one of my clients has under contract this morning.  Most of my clients choose not to do a radon inspection (I am guilty of this also. I have never had one done on my home).  The inspector was telling me that back when Reagan was the president, he ordered a mandate to HUD to include a radon inspection with every home.  Why do you think he did this?  Because it can kill you!  This mandate was never followed and there is now an investigation into why not.  He was telling me that 66% of Virginians live in hazardous levels of radon.  Radon reads in numbers.  I think it is the percentage of the air.  ... 04/10/2009

I can understand if your daughter's wedding is in the backyard or your son's birthday party is happening at the same time that I am trying to show your house, in that case, I will schedule another showing.  How on earth is an owner/agent going to tell me this because he will not be home and can't put his dog up (not out of town, just at work in town)?  I was told this today when I tried to schedule a showing for tomorrow afternoon.  To all the sellers out there that don't understand how important it is to give easy access to your home when it is listed, you need to wake up, or smack your agent if they have not told you.  To any agent out there that doesn't understand how important it is, you might want to smack yourself or find a new career. I hope it does not take 18 years to reach my goal.  I can see why it took them that long though. April 6th, 1909 one hundred years ago today, the North Pole was reached for the first time by Robert Peary and Matthew Henson.  The task was not an easy one.  The explorers and their team of men and dogs made practice excursions twice, to practice their methods and skills for dealing with the harsh conditions and sometime -50F temperatures.  It was an 18 year long endeavor from the days of organizing the team, until they actually arrived at the pole. Stonewall Court - A Brief History  At the declaration of World War II in 1941, the nation was put on alert for foreign invasion. Over the entire country, on the East and West Coasts, groups were formed for the safety and protection of people in all communities. Men and women were selected from each neighborhood to form a Civil Defense Patrol.  In the Court, it was decided a meeting place had to be found where the workers could hold gatherings and to store equipment. I got home this past Sunday at 3 a.m. from vacation in Costa Rica.  WONDERFUL.  Beautiful country, super nice people, amazing wildlife.  I'll post a picture album once I can dig through all the work stuff.  But I do not recommend the return trip schedule - leave house at 5 a.m., drive 2 hours to San Jose, fly from San Jose to Guatemala, fly from Guatemala to El Salvador, fly from El Salvador to Dulles, drive from Dulles to Richmond, collapse into exhausted sleep at 3:30 a.m., just over a full 24 hours later. But enough whining - the trip was well worth that inconvenience.  And I've come back to some good news: We got another confirmed, executed reservation for the Windsor Court condominiums.  Whoopee! March 25th, 1669 Mt. Etna, the still very active volcano in Sicily erupted, killing about 20,000 people and destroying the town of Nicolosi.  The same volcano erupted two weeks earlier and killed 15,000 people.  I guess they were on opposite sides of the mountain.  I'm not sure I would like to live in the shadow of an active volcano, but I suppose there are actually millions of people with-in reach of the many potential killers scattered around the world.
