If you live anywhere near Virginia Beach you must have heard about the Mid Atlantic Hermit Crab Challenge.  If you have not, July 11, 2009 is the day to go to the Oceanfront and see what it is all about.  To be honest with you I have never heard of it, but then again I don't own a hermit crab. Those with hermit crabs bring them down to 30th Street to race on the 8 foot track specially made for crabs.  Lovingly referred to the "Crustation 500" the winner receives the "Order of the Mercury Claw" trophy.  If you crab is more like a turtle and just can not seem to put the pedal to the metal the Miss Curvaceous Crustacean Beauty Pageant maybe what you are looking for.  Crabs are judged on their beauty as well has how well they decorate there homes.  The events are schedule from 10:00-2:00 PM.

A few months ago I pulled a muscle and by the time I made it to the chiropractor, I could barely support my self. By the time I left, I felt better and within a couple of days I had forgotten about the whole ordeal. Yesterday, while camping we were picking up heavy things, and I saw both my kids bending and picking up stuff without bending their knees. Several years ago I picked up a heavy box that way, and I was in continuous pain for the following two years. I wish I had known about chiropractors back then. Posture in bussines is extremely important. We make our opinions of someone we just met during the first 7 seconds. Socially, it works the same. Whenever I am about to meet a new client or a new friend, I think of three things. Smile, stand up straight and talk with a clear voice. ...

I absolutely love video...I just don't like seeing myself on video.  I am a bit self conscious on the way I come across.  But I know video is the thing to do.  So I started with just a simple video as an introduction on my twitter page.  BubbleTweet     It isn't automatically played when someone visits your twitter profile page unless you use the URL that is provided once you upload your video.  But I think it is a cool little tool to add something different! So give me your honest opinion of my new twitter profile page! As always, if you are looking for a loan officer in Virginia Beach that will keep you up to date online and offline in the mortgage world I would love to have you follow me!

This year for Mothers Day is an extra special one for me.  I have celebrated Mothers Day with my son Hunter since 2005 and this year I get to celebrate with the newest addition to our family - Ethan Doriguzzi born July 3, 2008. When I was pregnant with Ethan I feared that I might not be able to love another baby as much as I loved Hunter.  He was my #1 man for the past 3 years and how could I really love 2 boys the same? I was scared...but I can tell you now that was the silliest thing when thinking back on it.  Ethan has brought so much to our family and has equally stolen my heart along with Hunter!! I can honestly tell you that being a Mother is more challenging but at the same time the most rewarding thing I have accomplished in my life so far.  I never knew the LOVE that I feel an...

There really aren't any more stated loans available these days but that doesn't mean it is impossible to find a home if you are self employed.  You will just need to prepare yourself for the process and the paperwork. If you are self-employed and relocating it may be difficult to obtain a loan.  The reason for this is because if you are self-employed in one city and have an established client base then it will be very difficult to prove that you will have the same income and business when moving to a new city.    Income that doesn't effect relocating to a new area is Social Security/disability Retirement Alimony Child Support Rental Income I don't want to discourage anyone that is self employed but rather educate you on the process to be better prepared for what is expected.  How t...

Who said mortgage is a bad business to be in is wrong!  I have been busier than ever with referrals, leads to my website, and social networking that I barely have time to blog anymore.  But you can't keep me away from blogging for  long. In order for me to grow my mortgage business and still offer the same quality of customer service I had to add to my team.  I would like to introduce Paul Murdock - the newest addition to the New American Mortgage Team.                                       I feel honored to be working with Paul and think that we are going to make it a great year for mortgages.  He brings alot to the table with his IT programming and web design background.  Paul has already updated and customized the ACT database to make sure that we never lose track of a customer or re...

For those who are new to the area (or who have been under a rock), a little bit of history:  the Southeastern Parkway/Expressway has been in the "works" for over 20 years.  The plan is for a 21 mile tool road connecting Virginia Beach and Chespeake.  It appears it will not come to fruition in my lifetime. The major obstacle for the plan has been the environmental impact of the parkway.  The proposed road stretches over wetlands; a large portion of the landscape in Southeastern Virginia.  After discussions with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Army Corps of Engineers, the Federal Highway Administration recently voided the "prior concurrence" of the environmental impact statement for the Parkway. It's just another "bump in the road" for the Parkway that will now cost over $2 bi...

The City of Virginia Beach has launched a website dedicated to unsolved homicides dating back to 1970.  In an effort to solve these cold cases the City is going on the world wide web for assistance.  This site shows dates, names, breif description of the crime, as well as a map of where the crime occured.  Although it is something none of us wishes to review for fun, please take a moment and go to the below link and review the cases listed.  You may realize you can help solve the case and put an end to the unknowing of a family. Kudos to the Virginia Beach Police and Detectives for solving all but 61 cases of homicide since 1970.  www.VBgov.com/cchu

The Virginia Department of Health and the City of Virginia Beach have created a website to address frequently asked questions about defective drywall imported from China. It can be difficult to determine if you have defective drywall in your home.  If your home was built after 2003, you may want to have it inspected by a professional to determine if you are at risk. Unfortunately, the site does not address what a homeowner should do if it is determined that they have defective drywall.  I suppose the first step would be to contact the builder.  If that doesn't work, the next step would be to look at the warranty paperwork you received (if you purchased new construction).  So far, I have not heard of homeowner's insurance policies covering the removal and re-installation of the drywall. ...

Many intersections in Virginia Beach are dangerous, made more so by people who intentionally run red lights.  The City of Virginia Beach is taking action by installing cameras at various intersections to catch those red light runners red handed.  You may have seen them while you are doing your errands.  There are red light cameras at Kempsville and Indian River Road area, Virginia Beach Boulevard and Independence, Indian River Road and Military Highway, and Holland Road and Rosemont Road, just to name a few. How this program works is if you run a red light the camera will take a photo of you (make sure you smile), and mail you a ticket.  Currently law enforcement is only able to catch about 12% of violators, and if you drive in Hampton Roads I am sure you agree the number of red light r...

I recently had an interesting discussion with my MAPS (Mega Agent Productivity Systems) Coach.  He started the coaching call with the same question he always asks "Tell me something great since our last call?"  I hesitated and said something, and he replied with "what's on your mind", I suppose by the tone in my voice and the lack of excitement in my response to his question he could tell I needed to share some thoughts with him.  This being the first reason why you need a coach.   I explained to him that I had taught a class earlier that day and the turnout was lower then I had wanted.  He Replied " How many students did you want, what was your goal?",  and he added " Don't say as many as possible!"  I replied "I didn't have a specific number", he said "then I guess you hit it".  WOW...
