Loudoun County Virginia has a significant number of homes that were constructed prior to 1813 (200 years old).  Many are splendid examples of early American craftsmanship.  Many are wonderful examples of the simplistic styling of early American homes.  Many are significant examples of the grandeur enjoyed by some. Waterford VA is a small village in Loudoun County. Before the civil war Waterford was the second largest town in Loudoun County. In the late 18th and early 19th century the town had several mills and was a commercial hub for the surrounding farms. When the W&O railroad came to western Loudoun Waterford was by-passed. Over time all commerce left and the town let go its status as a town and many buildings fell into disrepair. In 1943 the Waterford Foundation was established and the process of restoring buildings began. Today the entire town is registered on the National Register of historic places. Most buildings are used for homes and others are owned by the Waterford Foundation.
