There are a number of things that can trigger the decision to remodel or move to a new home. Perhaps you have outgrown your current space, you might be tired of struggling with ancient plumbing or wiring systems, or maybe your home just feels out of date. The question is: Should you stay or should you go? Choosing whether to remodel or move involves looking at a number of factors. Here are some things to consider when making your decision. Five reasons to move: 1. Your current location just isn’t working. Unruly neighbors, a miserable commute, or a less-than-desirable school district—these are factors you cannot change. If your current location is detracting from your overall quality of life, it’s time to consider moving. If you’re just ready for a change, that’s a good reason, too. Som...

Ever have one of those days when nothing seems to go right, when it seems up hill both ways or Murphy's law has it out for you? I have and there is one thing that gets me through them, people who have been there too. It does not cost anything to smile at someone (especially if they appear miserable) or to offer a listening ear when someone needs to share. being supportive can make all the difference in the world. I have been fortunate to have people in my life that have been there for me. Co-workers that shared a funny experience have made many a rotten day not look so bad after all. In this business we are all about people. We form relationships and maintain them. We work hard to go the extra mile and it can really pay off. Sure there are times we feel competitive but they should be su...

When I started in the business I was young and new. A lot of people questioned my experience. And rightfully so. I had an answer though. My Broker Richard Bell- You know him as the SURFERDUDE,he has been in business about 30 years. This was my source to tap into anytime I had a question. He had been there and done that or knew of someone who had. He could pull out answers from his vast knowledge of many different markets, and had solutions that were tried and true for almost any scenario. Nothing surprised him even the market like we are experiencing today. In fact he was warning us about it long before it ever hit- so we could be prepared. To bad he could not have tipped off the government. My Point in this post is this. We on Active Rain have tapped into a gold mine of knowledge. Not o...

I just wanted to take a moment and remind everyone of the importance of Shopping LOCAL. Especially in the current economy our LOCAL stores are counting on us. Gas prices have fallen and it is a little easier to patronize the big chain stores, but don't forget about the LOCAL guy down the road who is trying to make a living to. I watched on the LOCAL news tonight, a story about a hardware store who had been in business 60 years and was now calling it quits. We are not only loosing a place to shop - but LOCAL jobs as well. I am glad that our two LOCAL stores are in good shape. I am personally going to make a point of shopping in my home town, and support our LOCAL economy. I hope that maybe you too will be inspired to do the same. PS...I am working on editing...do you like it.

I was doing some research for a friend who was relocating to Western Washington. As I pulled up house after house in a variety of neighborhoods, we started to look more at what the prices in each were, and the communities that they offered as a gage for where she wanted to live. Below is a comparison of Renton, Washington- close to Seattle and Tacoma, as compared with Mason County just 30 minutes from the Tacoma Narrows Bridge deck. Both offer great amenities. Their difference would be urban and more rural. Renton: Average Cost per Sq. Ft.            Average Sq. Ft.              Average asking price                                             $189.00                        1347                           $237,321.00 Mason County:                $155.00                        1615       ...
