The last reported sighting was last Tuesday when three people saw a bear heading toward the skate park.  ( There's a joke there somewhere.) Fish and Wildlife officals have placed donut-baited traps in Lacamas Park for the past six days, but so far, their efforts to capture the bears have been unsuccessful. ( There's ...

The Camas Urban Chicken and Garden Tour - Egg-citing! This weekend, The Camas Farmers market is hosting the second annual Camas Urban Chicken and Garden Tour. It's an egg-citing concept of integrating domestic laying hens with backyard gardens in efforts to eat more fresh and organic foods. Fourteen gardens are open for the Camas Urban Chicken and Garden Tour on Saturday, September 15th and Sunday, September 16th from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is a benefit for The Camas Farmer's market which is held every Wednesday in downtown Camas. The idea of growing your own food, and raising hens for fresh eggs is a popular one - and for good reason. People cite concerns over health, safety and economics as factors in to their decision to produce as food much as possible in urban gardens. Opponen...

2012-2013 School Year in Camas, WA - School Supply Lists Summer's here, and today, so are the sounds of neighborhood children splashing in a pool. Old friends, new friends (and teachers!), fresh starts and new beginnings sound pretty inviting. And, with back-to-school shopping for new clothes, shoe...

Stay out of the Lacamas Lake watershed. Officials are telling people to avoid contact with water in Lacamas Lake. That's because of   high levels of blue-green algae which poses health risks to people and animals. Lacamas Park, and the Heritage trail system remain open, but swimming, wading and other activities that involve water contact should be avoided. The algae, also called cyanobacteria, often appears during sunny warm weather, usually between May and October. The bloom is actually bacteria that photosynthesize as algae. Lacamas Lake Algae bloom poses the greatest risk to children and pets. Blue-green algae can contain toxins that can lead to liver damage, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Children and pets are at especially high risk as they are more likely to swallow water.
