  The Perseids Meteor Shower is just about at its peak. The Perseids have been observed by humans for about 2000 years. The annual meteor shower will be active now through August 22nd, and it is predicted to peak on August 11th and 12th.   Perseids is extremely consistent in its timing and can potentially be observed for several weeks depending on the light conditions and the weather. It is named after the constellation Perseus, which is positioned in approximately the same point in which the Perseids meteor shower appears to originate.   This summer, due to the waning crescent moon the opportunity for great viewing is very high.
